Oh my god that is SO lame...

Like so far beyond lame they need a new descriptive term for it...

"Here's your silencer, but nope we don't really want you using it so we're going to make this the first game in history where silenced weapons require a different type of ammo, that way you never have enough ammo and have to constantly waste time searching for more!! Isn't that a great idea!!"

Good thing we have the bow...

Indeed. It's absolutely redundant like it is now.
I rather stick to bow and xbow either in that case. :steamsad:

This was my impression I had a few months ago.
Could have been balanced a bit better...

But I guess it's necessary to change the weapon model of any weapon either to one with a silencer.
So it's way cheaper to add a silenced pistol. Yet why it requires unique ammo is beyond my understanding. :awkward:

Well it is an improvised silencer from scrap, I wouldn't expect anything less for a game where melee is intended to be the star role. Otherwise it'd just make the game easier and that's no fun.

Well, I won't say it makes the game easier rather gives more value to guns.
The game is already easy, as soon as you have a bow.
Having silenced guns is no difference except that you cannot reuse shot bullets.

For the bow, you can basically collect all arrows you shot and normally you can shoot one regular zombie with an arrow into the head (not into the knee :steammocking:)

So, I don't see any reason why not adding silencers that can be used on all weapons and break after a few shots.

About the melee combat: I love it.
It's not too easy but also not too hard. So with such silencers as I suggested, there won't be a bad impact on melee weapons, especially if you like to use them.

Requiring subsonic ammo is legit. I own a rifle with a suppressor. If I fire normal ammo through it (faster than the speed of sound) You still get a very loud crack as the round creates a sonic boom. The round can be heard as a gunshot from quite some ways. If I fire subsonic ammo there is no sonic boom (Crack). So you get that truly suppressed shot. Though it is not as quiet as in the games or movies. Still loud but hearing safe.

It's a valid point that for a suppressed weapon to fire as near silent as possible, that the ammo be appropriate. That's realistic.

It's also a valid point that it's utter bulls**t that Techland finally gave in and provided a craftable silencer which only uses ammo so rare, that it's all but useless.

I'm with the " Bow clan " on this one.

If the ammo was easy to get it would completely phase out everything else in the game. Its a nice thing to have but they had to make it rare to use for balance.

I'll agree in regard to the balance, but not in that having access to ammo would summarily lead to overusing the pistol in the game. I'll only speak for myself, but I think it's safe to say that many of us rarely if ever use firearms in the game. Any overreliance on guns in DLwould be an individuals decision and I do agree, ruin the game for them.

it would have been better if the suppressors were just less effective with normal ammo, that is how they work in real life, typically u do want to shoot subsonic out of a suppressor to be as quiet as possible.

The subsonic ammo can actually be crafted from Requisition packs.

I believe you have to complete the Subterfuge bounty to get the blueprint.
