Dark Souls 4 isn't even happening!
you might wish to use betterDS3 tool to let your DS controller act like xbox, but still you cant ensure it gonna work in all games.
Launch Dying light while in big picture mode
Configure the default controller while in big picture mode
Set the controller dead zone to maximum to prevent the camera drifting during use
Not sure if the first 2 are 100% necessary, but they're what worked for me
so the game is recognizing your DS4 and giving you the correct button prompts (X, Circle, Triangle, etc.)? Do you have a DS4 v2 (lightbar shines through the touchpad)?
This makes the game stop thinking its an xbox conotroller
