Controller not working with the game
I read around and and apparently my DS4 controller should simply be a plug-and-play situation, but the game doesn't recognise it. When I set the games default controller to the game pad, it shows up with the xbox icons for some reason. I did previously use a wired xbox one controller and that worked fine but I can't get this PS4 controller to work. It's connected with a standard ps4 controller cable that definitely works properly as it worked fine in rocket league. How can I fix this?

for sure its not gonna work tho, the game support xinput, xbox key mapping not DS key mapping controller.
you might wish to use betterDS3 tool to let your DS controller act like xbox, but still you cant ensure it gonna work in all games.

since steam has natural DS4 support it should be working, you still have to do some settings in a controller tab in steam or something

The Game has native DualShock 4 support. It even uses the lightbar and touchpad. However, I have the exact same problem as Jersh. I read in another thread that it MIGHT be because I'm using a DS4 v2. Or they messed up with a recent update, I don't know. I haven't found a fix yet.

Found the solution, apparently I just had to do a couple of things:
Launch Dying light while in big picture mode
Configure the default controller while in big picture mode
Set the controller dead zone to maximum to prevent the camera drifting during use

Not sure if the first 2 are 100% necessary, but they're what worked for me

so the game is recognizing your DS4 and giving you the correct button prompts (X, Circle, Triangle, etc.)? Do you have a DS4 v2 (lightbar shines through the touchpad)?

What i do is i launch DS4Windows and then click hide then press stop on Ds4Windows
This makes the game stop thinking its an xbox conotroller
