King weapon upgrade

I have tried farming the Stuffed Turtle quarantine zone, I have tried looking in every police van/car I could find, but I have never been able to find ONE King mod.

Is there a requirement that you have to meet in order to get them to spawn or am I just plain unlucky?

I should mentioned that my Story Mode progress is 48%.

They're rare. But grindable in prison. If you get Guru completion reward in Prison you get like... 4 or more. It'll be hard for you now though. Finish the game before maxing out all your weapons. If you're not swimming in kings, you're not supposed to balance-wise.

you could farm king mods in Prison Heist. but to do it correctly I suggest you doing it on nightmare for more time. when you are good in lock picking and get the best time you can get per run 7 gold weapons+ 7 king mods

Does the app still work? You might not be able to get them the first couple days as you level up your scouts and access the missions that have Kings, but there are a couple repeatable missions at least that have them as rewards. I would just check it every now and then and send scouts on those missions and I'd always have kings available to transfer to the game. So you can sort of farm them on the app if you want too.

The rarity of items you find, like weapons and weapon upgrades, are more a factor of your Survivor level, (and difficulty level), than your story completion. Once you start to see orange rarity weapons available at the vendors, (around Survivor level 21), I think there's a chance of finding King upgrades in locked chests/vans. Better if you're at max Survivor level 25.

But it's still pretty rare to find them in locked items. There are a few places in the game where you'll be guaranteed King upgrades. You can loot them from two specific bodies in Old Town, and they're available as rewards for side quests in the Countryside, (the Following). And as folks have pointed out, you can farm guaranteed King upgrades by finishing the Prison Heist at Tier 0, (Guru level). The companion app can sometimes provide you with King upgrades too, but it's not guaranteed.

However, the game is balanced so that once you start finding King upgrades, you'll have weapons you'll want to upgrade them with. It's best to upgrade your Orange, (or Gold), rarity weapons with Kings. For earlier in the game, you'll be fine using the weapon upgrades you find, on the weapons you have.

I've gotten plenty of kings from police vans. Perhaps RNGesus is not on your side at the moment.

Agreed: Police Vans and Volatiles drop them as well...I can usually count on finding one in the chest room that you swim to in Old Town

i have found king mods in the lockers above the black snake market ,rarely but they have appeared there.
