I have a GTX1060 runs slow
My GTX1060 6gb runs slow so the mouse movement lags behind unless I run the game just a little above 720p. I run many newer games than this at 4k, but not this one. Any ideas how to make this game work better at higher res? Im running Mass Effect Andromeda at 4k and it is smooth.

ASUS ROG Crosshair VI hero main board,

AMD RYZEN 5 1500X,

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel X99 Platform,

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 6GB,

WD Black PCIe SSD 256gb, [Windows operating system drive]

OCZ Vertex 4 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) [game drive]

Windows 10 - 64 bit,

LG 45 inch 4k LCD TV/moniter

13 gig page file size.

There are a few things you could do to improve your game and see if it gets it to work again.

1: Update drivers, I know you have a 1060 and that came out way past the game initial release date, but I also have a 1060 and updating the drivers helps a long way

2: Verifying the game install, to do this do the following; Right click on the game in your Steam library, go to Properties, then Local Files and then "Verify Integrity of Game Files", it'll take a while but that could help

3: Just do a good 'ol reinstall of the game, if you've enabled Steam Cloud as a backup your saves will be okay.

4: Try installing it on a different drive, like your SSD.

5: Try perhaps playing on a monitor thats less than 29 inches and not a TV as I've attempted to do the same with my PC with my 4k TV and it was laggy.

6: In game, turn down settings that you won't need or just straight up turn them off; Anti Aliasing and HBAO for example

7: Make sure the game has actually detected your 1060 and isn't using anything else

8: If it works on your SSD rather than your actual storage drive, it could just be down to a bad install or bad drive (Somehow anyway)

If neither of those work I have no idea what else I could suggest to you.

4k is literally four times the pixels of 1920X1080. So it has a MASSIVE increase of load. It's math, you need a 1080 for 4K and not have potato settings, usually.

I wish people would be a little more careful to actually read the original post! I can not even run 1080! That is the trouble. I'm stuck at about 720p+! And, I run Mass Effect Andromeda at 4k, and it is smooth.

Maybe because the programmers are far superior for Mass Effect Andromeda than the programmers of Dying light. I have heard about "pig" textures that eat your processing that could be done with a small fraction of the code by a good programmer. It is Warner Brothers who did Dying light after all....

Both the drives I has listed are SSD. I had already thought about the large screen being slow but I just finished "Vanquished" running at 4K the whole game with this large monitor. That whole game went smooth as silk even when the sh*t was hitting the fan! I cant see how that could be the problem. The monitor does not feed back to the video card anyway.

Dying light did the same on my old 32in....

It does not seem like a monitor lag, but I am going to get out my oldest 27in and try on it as well. I will post to see what happens.

Same here, my game has ran fine since I bought it and I've had no issues.

All I did was turn off v-sync. Now I am at 1080 and it is smooth as silk. I think there is a problem with the games programs v-sync setting. I turned up most of the other settings, and it was still smooth. I am going back in and tuning the rest up to see if that was the only problem. I will let you know.

You said this:

"I run many newer games than this at 4k"

No, you don't, you're lying. N1060 is a mediocre 1080p card and if you can't run DL at 1080p then something is wrong with your setup. Either do a reinstall or contact Techland support.

You are a total sh*t for brains! You are totally clueless know it all! Get a life moron!

OK after turning off v-sync and then turning back on NVIDIA HBAO+ my mouse is alnmost totally smooth at 4096x2160 res. It seems the NVIDIA HBAO+ improved the smoothness! Do not turn it off!

I just needed to turn off the v-sync. I can run at the full 4096x2160 with only a hint of the annoying mouse lag now... It is totally playable at the higher settings. There is definitely some issue with the v-sync and this vid card: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.
fux Nov 18, 2018 @ 12:00am
I'm not saying you are lying, but I have a palit 1060 super jetstream with higher clockrates if I'm not mistaken and I just don't see enough performance to turn res much higher than 1080p in some games and keeping high settings

What settings are you running in andromeda for example? I saw a video with a 1060 @ 4k with around 40 fps and all low graphic settings.
But to be honest in this case I would rather turn down the res and have enough fps and higher graphic settings. Just my opinion tho

gt 1030 and playing on max? doubt it.

for the OP: 1060 is hard for 4K gaming, best you can is 1440p.
