Are mods not working anymore?
While recipe changes and skill description edits will show up, trying to disable cooldowns, increasing or decreasing damage all do not work. I've tried replacing data3.pak and also just manually replacing files in the main pak file.

For example, if all I wanted to edit was defaultlevel.xml, none of the changes will carry over (like no stamina usage on special abilities) in the main campaign, expansion, new game or old saves.

It gives the illusion of the mod working (you are warned that you are using modified files) but it really isnt. And I tested this in single player. Oddly, it was working yesterday but now nothing is.

I have an old weather mod
It's still working for me in slums and old town
I think mods are still working

As in mods aren't working or they are fine?

Weather mods should be ok, same with blueprints, but gameplay changes and edits do not seem to work. The game defaults to unmodded values.

I just need a mod that prevents weapons from losing durabilty
Can anyone else confirm that gameplay mods have been disabled? Cause it feels like a stealth update was pushed to disable modding and I like to be sure it isnt just on my end.

you simply need to launch steam.. disable internet connection.. install mod.. run game.. re enable internet connection once you are playing.. this means alt tab out of the game while its running(not in menu) then you should be good to go

so did it work?
I haven't tried it, but I think they applied a stealth update to disable gameplay mods. I had an older version of Dying Light which had the latest updates minus the ones that came after Content drop zero.

Mods work just fine on that.

Also, there was never any need to launch or disable the internet or do any special workaround(s) until yesterday.

Can we get proper confirmation that Techland secretly locked away the ability to mod Dying Light's gameplay?

DL has that file checking system with an internet connection enabled and won't allow edited/modded files which effect core mechanics, etc., etc..

this.. the online check upon game launch disables mods

Thank you for the reply everyone, it's much appreciated.

Though I would add that for the longest time, I've always played solo or coop with mods (both sides have the same mods) and never had the online check disable mods.
