The EXPCalibur ruins the game.
Hello, I'm playing with a few friends on hard, we all stumbled across the EXPcalibur.

For those that don't know, it breaks immediately when using it, but insta kills zombies (and sends them flying) with 1 strong attack, while broken. This means it lasts forever.

My friends have been using it nonstop and they're just plowing through the game as they kill everything in 1 hit, it's not fun.

Does it get less effective later? I've love to get the challenge back (by forcing them to use a different weapon lol)

Thanks!

Get rid of it

If you read my post, they are using it not me, and won't let it go.

Do zombies get stronger later, possibly making it less effective?

The expcalibur is hard to craft, isn't it? Anyways, on nightmare mode it should be harder to kill zombies.

It should eventually die last i checked

Oh, if you play on nightmare mode easter egg weapons are disabled. I don't know if expcalibur is an easter egg weapon or not but I assume it is. Encourage them to play nightmare mode.

Yes, there are different factors that will make EXPcalibur weak so it does no longer kill zombies in one hit. There is NG+, you start NG+ after you complete story on 100%, this makes zombies a bit tougher, also story progression, the further you progress story, more tougher zombies will spawn, they definitely won't die from one charged attack from EXPcalibur, it may require two or three more charged attacks. And difficulties, you've been suggested Nightmare mode but that would be too much, even in Hard mode, EXPcalibur won't be able to do much against a tougher zombies, eventually your friends then will switch to another weapons.

So in conclusion, try to have as much fun as you can with EXPcalibur, if your friends are going to play long(Start NG+, change difficulty to Hard+). If they're playing only for story and then are going to abandon the game, then I would recmmend them to switch into another weapons.

let me get this straight, your three friends are having fun, and you're not, and you think they're doing something wrong and have to be fixed?

Nah the EXPcalibur is definately a fun weapon, but we're playing this game on hard for that tough survival intensity, and are instead just blasting through it. Might as well put it on very easy mode and let my 4 year old neice play. It just cheapens the experience.

The problem was that you craft a neat blueprint weapon and it breaks after 1 big zombie mob. That's why everyone just used the EXPcalibur, it was dissapointing to craft weapons and have them become useless within 15 minutes, while the EXPcalibur was always useful (though super cheesy).

So I made a mod just for us. Weapons last 50% longer, have 10 repairs, but cost 5 metal pieces to repair. So now everyone feels much better about using their own crafted weapons as they can hang onto them much longer.

that definitely is a problem in this game. crafted weapons just don't feel useful enough, vs. the time investment to scour garbage piles for ingredients

eh the end game ones are nice, I love the freeze one and the impact ones are always useful(fun watching a hammer guy fly away). Crossbow is king with its elemental arrows, wish it had explosive bolts though instead of stun and what I think is some kind of knock down bolt.

you just described weapons without durability, which sort of avoids the issue that weapons with durability break after only a few uses.
