Enhanced Edition or Anniversary Edition?
I might be retarded but I don't see the difference in content since both give you the season pass.

I would say Anniversary edition, it includes more skins and 2 new but old fashioned weapons.
BT Feb 21, 2019 @ 5:51pm
the season pass doesn't include some of the cosmetics and weapon blueprints offered in anniv.edition..

so I got myself only the enhanced edition since the price is about half of anniv.edition.

You mean the Enhanced Edition doesn't include some of the cosmetics and weapon blueprints. That's right. Everyone (every thread about it) seems to say that the Enhanced Edition includes all the playable content, with the other dlc just being cosmetics and some blueprints.

I would just add that my Enhanced Edition had both the Season Pass and The Following in it. Which is redundant and only raised the cost since the Season Pass includes The Following.

I have confirmed that all the Enhanced Edition content is in the Anniversary Bundle. Nightmare Difficulty, Legend skill tree etc.

It is, but AFAIK, you can't make it on Anniversary, unless you buy the extra DLCs alone, right?

I have the Enhanced Edition (the modern version of that term), and that as you say includes The Following. There was a time it did not, which is a no longer meaningful historic term, which is why you see this odd phrasing.

Anyway Enhanced Versus Anniversary -- I decided to see what was in the Anniversary Bundle that was not in mine by checking (I have no idea what the Anniversary EDITION is, only the Anniversary Bundle):

It is just the 5 Bundles, as expected, we actually got the Crash Test Skin as well:

Harran Ranger
Volatile Hunter
Gun Psycho
White Death
Vintage Gunslinger

are NOT INCLUDED in Enhanced Edition (which includes the Season Pass).

Of those, Harran Ranger includes the Best Bow in the game, slightly better than the Bozak Bow in power (but only slightly), and with a sideways view, and a more usable aim down the sights mode.

Volatile Hunter includes several blueprints similar in power to the Angel Death Blueprint, available to put on more weapons, perhaps easier ingredients, perhaps less powerful on those earlier weapons. But many like it when they go Volatile Hunting, for flexibility, since it includes Lightning on it, which Volatiles don't like.

White Death, I believe is only reskins of your weapons and buggy, no power improvement, cosmetic only.

Gun Psycho colors a Marksman Rifle and gives it a red dot sight. Supposedly this fires a tad slower than say a Police Rifle, but is a bit more accurate, and the red dot helps for range and maybe has 2x scope effect. See YouTube for some more details on that, if you like.

Vintage Gunslinger is cosmetic, but the Knife Skin seems to look great, the Sheriff Outfit looks unique, and the Buggy with Horns is thematic. Cosmetic only.

NOTE: The Anniversary Bundle has that ? next to it, that means YOU ONLY PAY FOR WHAT DLC PARTS YOU DON'T HAVE, which is the best bundle to get on Steam. So if you get it after the Enhanced Edition, you only have to pay for those 5 DLC, PLUS YOU GET THE SAME % DISCOUNT OFF THOSE REMAINING ONES, which saves money and is ideal. Kudos to Techland for that.

You should be able to mix n match all these. Gamersgate had a recent sale on these DLC (as Genuine Steam Keys) and they averaged about 2 $ a piece, which was excellent. Fanatical.com should also have these on sale occasionally, individually. Just examples.

None of them are absolutely needed. So you can always start with Enhanced and see later what you want, when on sale.

Anniversary Bundle seems a good deal, if you want the whole package. Personally I'd consider Harran Ranger, Gun Psycho, and Volatile Hunter, and I like the look of the Vintage Gunslinger. The first three in that list at least give you more varied blueprints and unique weapons in Ranger Bow in HR, and Marksman Rifle in GR, blueprint options in VH.

So anniversary bundle would ideally be the preferred way if you want to pick up everything dying light has to offer the players. But Enhanced Edition is a good starter route to the game for those who are wanting to pick up the game and don't care about purchasing ALL the DLC right away or all at once?
DedZedNub Apr 18, 2019 @ 10:28pm
(Long post, sorry, but I think this will help you understand the full decision)

Yes, because the Enhanced Edition has all the key DLC in it. You don't need those others I listed to be more powerful, they just provide more options. Think of them as sort of convenient sidegrades. You also will get those DLC up front, so probably can use the blueprints right away. Although any blueprint requires the necessary ingredients found and the right melee weapons to make it work powerfully.

I'll give an example. There is a blueprint available at the beginnng of the game if you have either the season pass or the Enhanced Edition (which includes it). It is called The Constable.

It is usually considered just an early game helper. The reason is because it is used on Police Batons. Well, there are only two Police Baton types in the whole game. The normal Police Baton is available early on, and does say 60 Damage on its own. With the Constable it is upped to about 80 but also has Lightning Effect (which will show up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the time) and some other effects.

But what few people know by midgame is that there is a late game police baton called Fabulous Police Baton. It does about 1000 damage, depending on its color. Grey is weakest, then Green, then Blue, then Orange, then Purple -- if there was a Gold one it would be the best Fabulous Police Baton.

But the most important thing is the prefix name. A Fabulous Police Baton, even if grey, is going to do about 900 damage per swing. A normal Police Baton with no prefix, about 60. There are no other prefixes or types of Police Baton that I know of.

So, if you want, you could also put The Constable blueprint and mod a Fabulous Police Baton, to have its effects on it. I think it is Poison and Lightning, but I forget.

But The Constable has another weirdness. It is part of a pack of early helper Blueprints. So what it does, which most blueprints you find in game do not do, is it makes the resulting modded weapon sell for ZERO. Otherwise, a modded Melee Weapon, with a blueprint crafted to mod it, even if BROKEN sells for good money (not as good as brand spanking new, but still good money, like over $1000 for the Fabulous Police Baton).

So SUMMARY:

-- Blueprints work on types of weapons -- Say Crowbars, or Wrenches, or Machetes, or All Melee Weapons

-- Prefix names on a type of weapon -- say a Fabulous Crowbars determine how great they are really. Fabulous tends to be top of the line.

-- Within a Prefix -- say a Fabulous Baton -- the key is the color. The better the color, the more repairs it gets, the more additional mods it can put on it, beyond the 1 basic blueprint. So a Purple Fabulous Baton might have the potential to have 3 or 4 King Mods on it and 5 repairs or so. Where a Grey Fabulous Baton might have only a slot for 1 King Mod and 2 repairs or so. This means a Purple tends to last longer and might have something like 3 or 4 times the modded damage, or I can add to its handling, plus damage, plus durability, etc.

-- So a slight exception is Gold Tier Weapon. Those might be unique. Sometimes it just means the best type for that type of weapon, which might even just be a purple. But most weapon types have a Gold Tier as well, or a special Golden Weapon. I'm not good at knowing all this as I mostly have Purple and Below weapons, and almost always use Green or Gray as I like to save up the better ones for a future New Game + on Hard Mode or higher.

So what the Volatile Hunter probably does is it allows you to put Lightning on more TYPES of weapons. So maybe it adds Wrenches as well, and so on. Some Weapon Types only exist early on, so they are mostly irrelevant. Some have various Prefix types all the way thru the game. There are probably at least 4 and maybe 6 prefixes in some weapon types, like Machetes.

The Maximum Prefix that can fall for a certain Weapon Type, like Machetes, is determined mostly by your Survival Level. You have to gain XP to increase that doing what Crane does.

So if you are Survivor Level 5, you won't probably get any of the top 3-4 prefixes, if they exist for that type of weapon.

The Volatile Hunter gives several blueprints that probably each work on more types of weapons, but you will find corresponding ones, overall, thru Dying Light and even more thru The Following anyway to do the same thing.

In other words, if you like those DLC, because you like the Ranger Bow, or Marksman Rifle, or want to know you have those Volatile Hunter blueprints, go for it. But if you don't think you will need them, and early on probably can't really use them, start with Enhanced Edition.

Both are good deals. I just have the Enhanced Edition and will hold off for the additional 5 things until probably later.

I use the base Bow and it is good enough for Normal Difficulty. I won't finish, I believe, the Bozak Horde test to gain the Bozak Bow on my own. But the Following does reward early on some Crossbows which have more range and hit harder. So I'm not too worried about it.

On Normal I can kill Volatiles if I wish, but it is a bit risky. But I'm at max Survivor Level, and have about 10 Legendary Levels as well, which can be customized to empower a type of damage, such as throwing damage, or bow damage, or firearms damage. These Legendary Points can be switched around as you wish as you go, they are basically earned via more XP, and can be seen as additional Survivor Levels -- but just as bonus to skills etc, percentage wise.

Ok very long answer, but I thought it might help you get the whole idea.

On Normal you don't need any of these, probably not even on Hard, not sure. But, hey it doesn't hurt to have them. They are blueprints in the game which are of similar power on similar speed weapons, but you have to do quests or find them.

So the key is really Ranger Bow, Marksman Rifle, and Volatile Hunter Blueprints. The first is supposedly the easiest to use, aim, and best damage bow. The Second is the most accurate easiest to aim Rifle. The third is a set of blueprints which might give you more flexibility getting Lightning on every type of weapon in every Prefix Tier that is possible, maybe.

There are pretty good YouTube videos on these DLC showing how they work.

KEY THOUGHT:

I think you better get the Enhanced Edition First though, because the Anniversary Bundle is added DLC afterwards. So that way once the EE registers, you won't pay for all, just for those 5. Price is tied at least with best seen before either way, if not slightly better. Good deals.

-----

And the DLC each tends to be about $2 on a very good sale. So Anniv Bundle showed as 9 for 5 of them for me, which was a good deal currently on Steam. But that's if you want to do that.

You could use the money on another game, if one is on your list instead. Those DLC are not needed to best the game, some people use them as a crutch and then wonder why they can't play with all the weapon types. It depends on the type of player you are, your decision.

Definitely good deals either way.

I've not yet seen a better deal than the current Steam Price on either The Enhanced Edition or the additional Anniversary Bundle.

PLEASE, less talk & just info like
enhanced has 1,2,3,4,5
anniversary has 1,3,6,7,8,9
....etc, i'am not here to read a novel !
DedZedNub Apr 19, 2019 @ 11:34pm
LOL. Or I could have posted nothing, saved a lot of time, and let you research this all yourself. Which I did long ago.

Your problem, if I may be serious, is you don't read. You don't read what you could have found out yourself, EASILY. Then you don't read what I say, because it gets on your nerves and wastes your time. Now, imagine how long it took me to compile that and forcefeed it into your young mouth. Lots of time and effort.

So next time, go fish.

@DeadZedNub: Actually, the store page is a pile of wtf wrapped up securely in a whole pile of confusion. Took me ages to figure it all out. Especially as I already owned a few pieces.

Your, 'Long Post' is a bit long, though.

Tips for dummies:

If you own no part of Dying Light then get the Enhanced Edition.
+
If you want an epic bow that makes things easy, buy the Harran Ranger dlc as well.

or

If you already own bits and pieces, get the Anniversary package.

(PS. If still confused, take note that the 'Dying Light: Enhanced' that is mentioned in the Enhanced Edition package but not in the Anniversary package is a FREE UPDATE released to everyone. This is what really confused me.)
