PS4 Controller not working. -- see below
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to play dying light with a PS4 controller, but every time I load the game, it shows me xbox controls in the place where it should show the PS4 buttons.

I've looked at previous steam discussions and a lot of people have said that dying light supports the PS4 controller natively, but for some reason, it's not working.

I've gone into the settings to turn on the PS4 controller setting, so that steam knows I want to use it. I've also unchecked this option before starting the game, no difference, except my PS4 controller doesn't work at ALL when I uncheck the box. I've also gone into big picture mode to try and play the game, but that isn't working either. Does anyone know of a solution?

Figured this out actually through a lot more trial and error, posting the solution in case anyone else runs into this problem.

Dyling Light WILL ONLY work with a DUALSHOCK 4 version 1 controller. What this means is that the original PS4 controller that came out when it was first released. It has no light bar across the top. The version 2 controllers that do have a light bar WILL NOT work with dying light, no matter what you do. The version 2 controllers will always show the key mapping of a steam/xbox controller, not PS4 controls.

Well this sucks :-). 2 years after your post. I'm trying to figure this out for a mac m1. The game runs fine, but no joy with my ebay special aftermarket dualshock.

Weird from choice from the dev - since the exact same controller works fine on the Ps4 version.
