Candycutter question

I just got my first sickle, a green quality one. Candycutter is gray quality. I requires quite some semi rare mats for me atm. Should I craft it? I would not like to lose mats and create something worse than a base weapon.
This is what I hate about crafting weapons in this game. I cannot see which stats they will have...

The Grey simply relates to its rarity. It won't detract from base damage.

I do suggest using any weapon crafting blueprints before adding mods. The crafting process can ( from my testing ) damage the weapon.

If you select the blueprint first, you'll see the weapons in your inventory that the blueprint can be applied to. If you move the cursor/selector on to one of those weapons in the list, you can see what stats will change, before you apply the blueprint.
