Do the nests respawn if you fail and come back later. I swear I have taken out the monsters stuck to the ground but it still shows as unfinished. Do I have to kill all zombies and volitals too

No, but you have to kill ALL nests spawns. One is quiet hidden. ;-)

You need to kill all the nests and thats it.

Hell if you have camo other than the occasional zombie to recamo you don't even need to fight anything.

I believe a message comes up telling you that the hive is destroyed, if not that then the hive outline in the minimap will dissapear.

Also, the area in the mini-map will change to a grey color when they've all been cleared.

Finally .. whew that was tough but I went in to the tunnel before night and found a good hiding spot near the cavern inisde and waited for the volitles to leave. For anyone finding this post later .. there are 4 nest spawners. I kept getting three of them and couldnt find the fourth and yet .. it was right there!! It was easier to see using night vision than using flashlight and with some camo I was able to get them all.
