And sure, you'll use the higher damage weapon. You want to maximize damege per precious round.
You'll notice that the German Pistol types of the same TIER (there are tiers to all weapons) are more accurate but either hit less hard or have a smaller magazine. Don't trust me. Check the stats for the weapon. There are many ways to do this.
One easy way is to bring up your Quick Choice Wheel for Weapons, for me it is holding down the 1 key. They move your mouse so that it is over one of the weapons by moving it up down left or right while that 1 key for the wheel is up, that will show all the stats for each weapon as you do that. Once you let go the 1 key, the weapon highlighted will be automatically switched to. You'll also be able to check this in inventory. You may see a simplified stats screen to the lower right when you have the weapon equipped. Each symbol has meaning. This is all explained in your help for the game, or via the tips when you die, or yadda yadda boom dee yay. Dying Light is very user friendly, but if you don't pay attention and just panic and fight, you miss all this.
Ok, now Tiers of weapons. Most weapons, such as Rifles and Pistols, have several tiers. As you level up your Survivor Level, more tiers of weapons become available. They have different names. For example, there is a Police Rifle. But later there is also the Advanced Police Rifle, which is the best semi-automatic Rifle in the game for damage per bullet.
Among Pistols, I believe the Golden German Pistol and the Golden American Pistol are the highest tier of pistol and do the most bang for the buck. There are special other revolvers and so on, but those are not silenceable, I believe. They will hit harder, but revolvers also have smaller magazines and shoot farther.
I'm not sure if you can or should make more than one Silenced Pistol. So you might want to wait until you get a Golden German or American Pistol. Last time I looked, I thought the movie said you had to use a Golden Tier Pistol with the silencer, but I may be wrong.
You may be able to confirm this by looking at some of the Guides up above the forums on Steam for Dying Light, or by going to the Dying Light Wiki (which is actually a Wikia page) and has a lot of other info.
I wanted to be able to use Rais' gun, but for some reason you can't mod that one.
