It's really hard to compare since Dying Light is an open-world game unlike CoD. What I can say though is Dying Light focuses mostly on melee combat while CoD allows you (and friends) to use firearms without restraint.

one is a game designed to be a full open world zombie game while the other is primarily a fps shooter with zombies tacked on.
