Silenced Pistols are a let down

have to say i was excited to be able to run around with silenced guns but these things havent been so fun to use. if i could even use them at all...

for one thing the subsonic ammunition is extremely rare to the point where i just gave up looking for them. every police van i searched had nothing and the risk was too high to keep searching them with hordes all around them. and even if i had ammo aiming down sights to get accurate headshots on enemies is obscured by the silencers themselves. theyre right in the way of the sights so im mostly guessing i have it lined up or firing from the hip mostly using the HUD to aim.

so before i even left for old town i just sold my silenced pistol and went for the ranger bow instead. at least arrows can be crafted and they come in fire, lightning and high ex... for all your zombie killing needs. maybe the next update wont be so disappointing

I think they should sell subsonic ammo at shops but it should be really expensive, as for the sights i assume that was a deliberate choice by the devs for balence other wise they would have just givin us a real suppersor on the gun rather than a handmade one

i wish you could put the silencer on SMG's instead of pistol, the barrel SMG would look awesome with one.

its soo unrealistic too and silencers would never be larger than the barrel in circumference as it ruins aiming and thereis no way to craft the silencer on its own either so its useless

yea techland dropped the ball on this one.. i mean u can turn a rifle into a precision marksman with a red dot sight but cant throw a few washers into a bit of pipe and lob it onto ur pistol..

i mean in Arma 2 the M9 SD just had a set of iron sights on the silencer its self as it blocked the guns own. that would have been cool if they added iron sights on the suppersor or something

Totally agree and don't know where I'm aiming. I usually don't aim since it works for me. Don't even know wtf that thing is on the tip of the gun? Is that fu** king spongebob like wtf is that? Hopefully there will be an update change.

ha yeah a homemade silencer made of a sponge and some wires to hold it together... seriously we can make grenades, a sword that can burn and shock zombies to a quivering crisp but cant make a good silencer that can let us aim down it and stuff...

balance... i guess. but in a place where ingenuity has given us shrapnel grenades, flaming electro swords and electric traps of all kinds why cant they make a good simple metal silencer that we can aim down sights. and yes silenced other guns as well would be great.

Silenced pistols are very good early on, specially before entering legend rank.

The crossbowl is only available in the main game if you have The Following DLC and started a NG+
Which I may add pistols are actually a waste to use at that point.

If its not the case, then either you have the bowl/bozak bowl or the silenced pistol.
Unless you apply mods to the either bowls, as your survivor rank climbs up, the pistols you can mod become more powerfull.
The golden german is a must to be a silenced pistol.

I kill tons of goons or evolved goons with the silenced pistol, the real problem is ammo for it.
But silenced pistols are situational, not to be used all the time.

@Sandwich-Anomaly: Funny you mentioned that, because that's exactly the response Kyle give at the university when told to look for the gunsmith, a guy that can crack a howitzer from a popgun, which Kyle reply that a silencer would be more useful. LOL

Probably late to this thread, but you can craft the Torn Whisper pistol which has a normal silencer that lets you aim down the sights
