I'm supposed to be able to plant the bomb at night, but there's always 1-2 volatiles stll inside the tunnel, and I can't get them out with any distractions. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Camo and go during the day. There should be about 6 of them, but you shouldn't have to deal with them ( bomb will do that ). Again - go Camo'd.

Or...Go in the day and draw them out to the entrance ( as far as they'll go ) and kill them there one at a time with the bow.

I don't think the OP is talking about a Volatile Hive. He is probably referring to the mission where Kurt asks you to plant a bomb in a tunnel at night.

If I remember correctly I did this at night time without having to use camouflage or firecrackers, just sneak in or rush in and plant the bomb, then quickly run away with grappling hook.
