Keybindings
Right first things first. I'll say this once and only once. I do *not* want a ♥♥♥♥ing discussion about why can't you use this, why can't you use that, plenty of other keys, why play like that, I play like this blah blah. I want answers. If anyone would be kind enough to share anything helpful I would be really genuinely grateful, if no one has anything helpful to add simply the ignore the thread.

There are a lot of keys that don't seem to be able to be bound in settings. Has anyone else found this and perhaps found a way around it? I'm reluctant to have to go the macro route as for some reason that never seems to work with anything keyboard related. As an example I would like to assign the > # < key as sprint but I am unable to do so.

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

Dunno, never changed em. Maybe there's configs in the game files you can take a loot at.

Yeah I've been looking around in the folders but can't see anything, I'm not too good with this sort of thing. I've tried googling the premise more generically to see if there's threads elsewhere discussing how the issue was resolved in other games etc in hope it might point me to a file or folder etc that has a similar function but no luck thus far.

Yeah just checked, the settings.ini file only lets you change Video settings, not keybinds. I also found an old post from Renfur saying

"Open data0.pak with WinRar. Navigate the folders to the inputs. Drag to the desktop and edit with notepad. Open Data3 in DW then create the path data/scripts/inputs and place the edited script there.

Doing this also makes your game have modified data so others wont be able to join, sadly."

So I guess it depends on how much you really want this.

Wow thanks for that. Hmmm this may not be too much of an issue. I just want to co-op with my brother who I live with so he could just have a modified .ini too.... Or does it specifically have to be modified in the same way as me i.e. him having sprint as his > # < key.. Dunno about that. I'll have a looksie though cheers.

I never played with modded files, but I believe people can only join games that are equally modified - I don't know if that just means he needs a custom inputs folder or if it does have to be the exact same setup. Whatever the case, make Sure VAC is off if you attempt it.

Ah bloody hell I hadn't even thought of that. I'm not going to risk having some permanent stamp on my profile just because I want to use a keybinding, it's the steam profile version of being a convicted rapist... Oh well. Guess I won't bother.

Not on German QWERTZ Keyboards. It's a main key function. Varies depending on manufacturer, type and language. I believe Apple does it differently too.

So it's like the Windows key? Not a lot of game developers support remapping the Windows key, it usually seems to override the game and alt-tab you out to "helpfully" bring up the start menu.

Well it's been my sprint button in more or less every game since the early 90's... I am arrow key filth you see. I have a keyboard with no gaps between any keys so all my functions are clustered in a square, the right third of my keyboard.
