How to fight blue volatiles?
Me and my friend have been running through the game on nightmare and are currently around 50%.

Honestly, sometimes there are situations where we HAVE to kill volatiles, it is a bit of a hassle, but we are sometimes able to kill red volatiles.

Now when blue volatiles show up, it becomes hell.

We have all the DLCs that add weapons except the winter one.

What weapons do you suggest we use and what tactics do you suggest we use to kill a blue volatile?

P.S. I am already very aware of pushing them onto spikes and into water, but sometimes those aren't always accesible now are they?

I recommend headshots with bow / crossbow, support from Legend skill-tree is necessary if you're at NG+ on Nightmare. Shotguns as well work well. One handed weapons with 5,300 damage and toxic upgrades work well too.

To be honest I never fully understood what the toxic effect did. Does it poison enemies and drain their health or something?

Forgive me, I do not know English very well, but what is blue volatile?

A volatile that has blue scales and stuff on it's shoulders chest and legs.

They do way more damage and have alot more health.

They appear exclusively in nightmare mode but are rarely seen in other difficulties.

Honestly, same here, I actually don't use any upgraded / crafted weapons anymore. But I saw my friends using and it being effective. It has chance to intoxicate enemies, forcing them to go into puking animation.

Seems to understand what it's about. These I beat with a one-handed weapon, preferably with some kind of effect, poison or electricity. When you hit them, it's best to avoid them from the side so that they can not get into you directly. And of course keep the active flаres

I very, very rarely equip flares. Mainly because I prefer to use the throwable spaces for other things.

Same here. Well, I personally save flares for invasions, never using it in singleplayer.

I always have the UV light and grappling hook equipped, and I usually have firecrackers equipped. The other slot is usually a potion of some sort, or throwing stars.

Well, then you can lure them into an unarmed zone and from there, gently, run out and strike. Running backwards. This method works very well in the supplement, for example, at a gas station. There it seems 2, if my memory serves me right. That's where this method works very well. Simply if it becomes very hot, then flares very well scare them away, giving the time to regroup or heal.

I think that's kinda cheesy. I'd prefer to fight them a legit way similar to how me and my friend beat up our first red volatile. We took several hits, but we had medkits. If the volatile we were fighting was a blue one, we would have died from their huge damage output.

It's cheesy or not, if there's more than one of them, even if you're at the highest level, you can not survive in a fair fight. Such rules in this game ... It is necessary to somehow adapt.

I meant in situations where I have to. I'm not just gonna fight them for fun lol. If there's a safe house I obviously don't have to.

In situations where you are forced to fight with them, the best way to stay alive is to flee.
