How to cancel throwing stuff like firecrackers, molotovs etc?

When I press and hold middle mouse button to throw something, is there a way to cancel throwing? I tried pressin LMB, kicking, use 2 (v key), nothing seems to work and I'm forced to throw the damn thing even if I change my mind.

Also, is there a way not to fire an arrow once you notch it?

I don't think there is a way to do so, at least not intended one. You can actually cancel the bow draw with V but not throwing. Edit: It's actually V (Use 2) by default.

I found that activating traps actually cancels it, or being close to zombie and kicking. The kicking seems to only work if the zombie is close to you.

Tried that one to, it just start sprinting with the throwing hand in the air. Can't really try right now, I'm doing some stability stress testing, but it seems that there should be a way to do it :/

try jumping from high up to get a landing animation or try getting grabbed by a zombie or something, not sure if changing the weapon/equip cancels it

Switching weapons doesn't work. However, grabbing the ledge does cancel the throwing animation. It's a shame they didn't map the key for cancelling the throw...

What worked for was kicking, just pressed E and the action was cancelled, work for bow and charged blow too

I suggest changing the action key to something you wont use very often, or leave those key areas (5-8) blank. I use the crossbow a lot - its mucho better, and I can recover the bolts from bodies, stuck in walls, etc. I always have the UV flashlight in #5 and the grapplin hook in #8, crossbow is in #4 and you can find my bows at the Traders, I sell them all. =)

Just kick, it works for me especially when power attacking.
