Honest some of the stuff in this thread is just silly.
1. You can game on the mac fine, its all about specs, you can get crap apples you can get crap PC's. So go away pc fan boys, your not helping, and no I do not own a mac. I am pc through and through. I am just not a bigot.
2. The requirements clearly state only AMD gpu's are support so all of you with mac's with nvideas should not have bought the game.
They do warn you on the steam store:-
Right there, AMD only.
Those that are having issues with AMD cards, have any of you actually spoken to steam support regarding the issue? What did they say? If you have not, why not?

Re-worded.
Its more likely an underlying driver issue, but apple has to approve driver changes, they do not always implement them on the fly, ususally waiting until the next version of the os (but then another bug may pop up).
It happens with a few games not just this game, for instance with the Witcher 2 on intel chipsets, the devs knew there was a problem, they told apple and intel, apple resfused to do anything about it until el capitan came out, It ran before el capitan but with graphical errors, rendering issues, crashing etc. (not that intel chipsets play it that well now as they are rather underpowered for the game, but at least the can actually see what is going on properly now).
So it maybe something that is fixed in a future os release.
Anyway, I'm using an AMD card and encountered this same situation where it freezes/crashes. Very annoying. However, I was actually able to get past this level. Warning: requires patience and a high tolerance for frustration, so if you don't have those, this isn't for you.
First thing, copy the save file. While attempting this level, it's possible to get stuck with a save position that immediately crashes when loading, and if that happens and you have no backup, you're hosed. Hopefully you use Time Machine. The save file is in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/70631866/239140/remote/out/save/save_coop_0.sav. (...Yeah.) The "70631866" folder might be a different number for different users? Not sure.
So: at the start (inside the elevator), do not look to the right. Rotate the view a little to the left and basically leave it there. Now you can move out into the level and it won't immediately crash. This means walking backwards/strafing when necessary. Do not look around. Fortunately there's only a little combat in this section so it's manageable. You'll need to go up into some vents, at which point it's OK to look around. When dropping out of the vents, once again do not look in the Forbidden Direction. You'll probably accidentally do that anyway, and have to force-quit the game several times while you're learning what to do here.
Once you're away from the beginning area and it's safely out of view, things become more manageable, since the game no longer immediately crashes if you look at it wrong (literally). However it can still randomly freeze at times. Watch for the save icon and make backup copies of the save file as you go, so you don't have to start over from the beginning every time. However, I was not able to have any workable save files after you get to the part where you need to go into a vent from the offices, so I did have to repeat the stuff from that section onwards several times.
It helps if you have the camouflage skill, so you can avoid combat as much as possible. Also, this might be my brain trying to force order on randomness, but it seems like the crashes often had something to do with the flashlight going out. My successful run involved my flashlight going out while crawling around next to some pipes about halfway through the level, but the game didn't freeze, so I stopped and didn't move for a minute while waiting for it to recharge. I was then able to get to the cutscene at the end of the level with no further freezes. (Leaving the flashlight off seemed to make the freezes more frequent, if you're wondering why I didn't just do that.)
After the cutscene, quit the game and reload. Now you'll be at the beginning in the elevator again, where you can leave the level. I assume the game would probably freeze eventually if you try to go back through the level manually, so I didn't even try.
Like I said, all this is pretty tedious and requires patience, but at least it's possible and it's better than not being able to finish the game. (Assuming there are no more levels that crash like this, of course....)
Also, switching the torchlight seems to trigger problems as well especially in the areas with activated sprinklers.
