How to not be scared ?

i bought this game awhile back because it looks really fun to me, i watch youtuber like theradbrad play it , but when i started playing ... i stopped after the tutorial. i am just too scared to play it i don't know why. i'm afraid of jump scares or zombies chasing me from behind ( that is in the morning , don't even talk about night... ) i don't even dare to go close to zombies i always look behind me every few seconds in game . How can i make myself not afraid of the game

That's how I was in the beginning, but you start to get used to it, I don't know I guess it comes naturally.

You can try increasing gamma and reducing sound.

Try killing some of the zombies, seeing how easy you can kill them really diminishes the scare factor of them. The special running are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scary, but that adds to the atmosphere.

Get the camo perk . it allows you to put dead zombie blood all over you and you can walk amount zombie without them attacking you, so long as you dont attack them and even those super scary ones will also not attack you, but they will come over and check you out, if they look at you for too long they will notice you are human. I think it only last around 30 sec. but if you combine the perk with silent kill while in camo perk and sneak kill from behind perk. Then You can pretty much stay in camo form forever. because you can kill zombie in a crowd of zombie without them noticing. There is a side quest that ask you plant a bomb in a tunnel at night, But during the day it has a bunch voliate in it. The super zombie. They cant chase you out the tunnel during the day. so you just apply camo, walk in and practice getting used to being near them. and repeat.

You can also play with some one in coop mode, this way the game doesnt look that scary

Clench your butt cheeks it helps but this game does have the occasional jump scare.

I was the same, I got this gifted to me the first week that dying light released on steam and could barely get past jumping off the crane. I only just persisted playing this the last two weeks to try to complete it.

Calling the Dying Light scary is like calling Twillight a horror movie.
Trust me there`s nothing to be afraid of it`s mainly a parkour-action game about zombies.

This game is for a mature audience. Wait until you are 17+ to play.

Don't try and melee zombies if you are out of stamina run like 5 steps or so away and rest.
Use grapple, charge, vault, and get the perk to push E to counter grabs if you have stamina.
Throwing zombies and pushing them around helps so much.
You cant outrun runners. You have to climb and parkour around.

Hand to hand is key to killing virals (the runners).
Throw them off stuff or knock them down and bash them.

Volatiles the huge red mutated zombies have a pounce attack they use if they get close and they charge it. If it lands it, you have to spam F and kick it off. If you climb or run in high places from a distance, they will try and spit poison at you. The pounce is scary but the poison spit is actuallly like 4x more dangerous. If you shine UV light on them from the street lamps, you can get them to run away. If you throw a flare, they will also run away a short distance. If you flash them with a UV flashlight, they will scream in pain and be temporarily blinded. If they are in a pounce at you and you flash them with the UV light they will fail their pounce and slam into the ground.

U dont have to play the game during night anyway there are just a few missions (including side and dlc missions) wich u have to do during night the rest of the game can be perfectly done during daylight only, so when night starts just go to the bed:)
