Tips for a beginner
Hi. I started playing Dying Light on October 28th but I haven't really gotten the hang of some of the important aspects of the game like crafting, blueprints, skills, Etc. What I would really like some help with are med kits and lockpicks. I don't have any lockpicks or medkit so it's really difficult for me to play missions. I really enjoy the parkour aspect of the game. I sometimes feel like I really am jumping off of a roof or climbing the side of a building. Hats off to the Developers for making a great game that is very immersive with its environment! Am I the only one who thinks this game is immersive?

You can craft medkits, and lockpicks too after getting the first survivor skill, just to to the blueprints tab. You can also get them from the quartermaster. And yep, the game is pretty immersive, developers did a good job with the world design

Ok, but how do I craft? That's really the only thing that's holding me back from enjoying the games full potential. If I don't have medkits and lockpicks and parts to fix my weapons, then I'm dead meat for the zombies.

Go to the blueprints tab, select the blueprint you want to craft, press the button to craft? Not really sure what you don't get. If you don't have the required materials then buy them from a merchant. You can also get metal parts by scrapping unwanted weapons

Dying Light is the best Zombie game ever released so far since Dead Island, Techland really but so much works into this game. First of before you do anything like Conducting Missions, I'd recomend you to start off with the available Side Quests so far, so in that way perhaps you'll be able to gather up some items. If you cannot do the side quests yet, I'd say smash up some zombies and go up the roof tops and search for boxes and stuffs so you'll be able to find some items such as Duct Tapes and stuffs which will be used to craft weapons and items. And of course try preventing going in Night Time since you just begun the game, also avoid dark tunnels. If you wanna go into night I'd recomend you to take a UV Light with you, also for your consideration, if you explore especially during night hours the value of the XP you receive is High and so as your risk and your health. I hope this helps, please ask more questions in that way I'll be able to give you some tips :)

When you work out how to lock pick seriously open those police vans and yellow vans they have guns and medkits in them.

I'm on my third attempt at playing this game and I'm finally starting to enjoy it. I got the game gifted to me the same week it was released on steam and failed to keep playing after jumping off the crane. Starting out is just so hard even on easiest difficulty, having so smack zombies 20+ times in the head with a shovel just isn't fun.

Guns are fun they kill in one hit not 20+. It's so much more fun late game with new skills and better weapons.

I've completed a bunch of story missions and side quests. The day and night cycle is amazing!

Can I craft lockpicks? If so how do I do it. I'm currently on the side quest "voltage" and I need to pick a lock. I only have one lock pick and I have a feeling I'm going to need more of them.

I am looking in my blueprints and I don't see lockpicks listed. I assume it would be in the "utilities" section. The only item in that section is and I quote directly from the menu in front of me "Medkit [4]"

Maybe lockpicks is one you learn through skills or picking up the blueprint early on? I'm only on my first playthrough but I don't remember not having it. I'm also one of those people that sweeps every room I enter for collectibles and items to pickup.

By pickup early on I mean it's most likely in the tower possibly on the floor you go to to save that guy 17th floor?

I can't get to the 17th floor so that's a problem. I hope I don't have to start a new game because that would be a pain.

Just checked Google now im at home and aparantly it is part of the Survivor skillset. You just need to choose that skill to get that blueprint fortunatly.

I went into the skills menu and I went into the Survivor rank tab and was able to purchase the survival starter kit. I can now craft lockpicks! I didn't realize I had to purchase this skill. Well I'm learning.
