Keeps crashing after 1 mins of gameplay (Mac OS)

Hi - I hope someone can help. Dying Light keeps freezing and crashing after about 1mins of gameplay. I have deleted and re-downloaded both the game and steam, and I have dropped the resolution way down. But nothing helps.

I'm running the game on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB, OS Sierra 10.12.6.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

install bootcamp for crying out loud, you can run it in windows its more optomized!

Thanks for the reply, PIFFKUSH. I do use boot camp and Windows but as I would also like to play Dying Light on the Mac I was wondering if there was a way to fix the problem I am experiencing. Perhaps I am just being foolish to imagine I could play such a game using a Mac.

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem roberbond. But it is good to know I'm not the only one. Thanks for the reply _StanleyTweedle_. It's a pity the game won't run on Mac. Hopefully it'll run at some future date... Until then I'll just have to use Windows.

"buy a real computer", ironically that mac is probably more powerful then 95% of the users on steam :p it's the OS that's garbage, too bad it's bottlenecking such premium hardware

This sucks. I'm noticing as soon as the computer fans kick in it freezes hard. During a verbose reboot I'm noticing a kernel panic in the log. Despite the pop-up stating only AMD GPUs are officially supported this ran better on a GTX 1070 than it does on a Vega 56.

They should let Aspyr or Feral do their ports.

I just got through some solid gameplay. The main thing I changed was going into UEFI settings and changed CPU back to its regular setting. I'd changed it to Performance mode.

This might only be helpful to Hackintosh players.


EDIT: Scratch that, I was still experiencing freezes (in Rise of The Tomb Raider, too, ie demanding games). Turns out it was the fan setting in UEFI, macOS won't detect the 'DC' setting for fans and the rear exhaust fan wasn't running at all! Changed them all back, last couple of play throughs no problems yet.

Hi bro! I have a Mac on M1, or rather a MacBook Pro 13 M1. I also started Dying Light and the game crashed in about 2-3 minutes of the game.
I want to tell you, it seems like I solved this problem, not a fact of course, but I've already played the game twice for 30 minutes and left the game myself. That is, the game did not throw me out.

Background: I downloaded the game, started playing and the game always crashed. I Googled about it. I found out that the game may crash due to lack of resources and need to lower the graphics. I didn't really believe it, but I decided to check it out anyway. I put the Graphics lower, more precisely 1366x768. I knew that Mac and logkestu would pull it off, but I decided to try. As a result, the game crashed again. I got mad and set the graphics to full (800x1600), she started blowing out a little FPS (I always have it on Power Saving Mode). Then I set the average resolution for this Mac to 1920x1080. Then I started the game. The whole game I was sitting waiting for departure, but no, fortunately I calmly played for 30 minutes, then I closed the game myself.
It was the first time.

The second time I went into the game with a graphics of 1920x1200. After 3 minutes, the game crashed. I went back, put the graphics 1366x768, Clicked OK. Then I put the graphics back on and clicked OK again. Then I put the graphics 1920x1200 back on and clicked OK again. Then I played again for about 30 minutes and closed the game myself.

The secret is that every time you need to change the graphics from 1366x768 to 1920x1200. As I have and in my experience it works. You know, I've only played like this 2 times.

As I understand it, the graphics resolution of 13-inch Macs is 1920x1200 (the lowest), 2048x1280 (average) and 800x1600 (the highest). I saw this information from the Metro Exodus game. Due to the fact that Mac has his own permission, he does not fly out and calmly plays. This is how I understood it.

Привет бро! У меня Мак на M1, точнее MacBook Pro 13 M1. Я тоже запускал Dying Light и игра вылетала примерно за 2-3 минуты игры.
Хочу сказать тебе, вроде я эту проблему решил, не факт конечно, но я уже два раза поиграл в игру по 30 минут и сам вышел из игры. Тоеть игра не выкидывала меня.

Предистория: я скачал игру, начал играть и игра всегда вылетала. Я погуглил про это. Узнал что игра может вылетать из за нехватки ресурсов и нужно понизить графику. Я особо не верил этому но все таки решил проверить. Поставил Графику пониже, точнее 1366x768. Я знал что Мак с логкестю потянет это, но решил попробовать. В итоге игра опять вылетала. Я всбесился и поставил графику на полную (2560х1600), она начала выдовать мало ФПС(оно у меня всегда на Режиме энергосбережения). Затем я поставил среднее разрешение Для этого Мака 1920x1200. Затем запустил игру. Всю игру я сидел в ожидании вылета, но нет к счастью я спокойно поиграл 30 минут, затем сам закрыл игру.
Это было в первый раз.

Во второй раз я зашол в игру с графикой 1920x1200. Через 3 минуты игры вылетела. Я зашол обратно, поставил графику 1366x768, Нажал ОК. Затем снова поставил графику 1920x1200 и опять нажал ОК. Потом опять поиграл около 30 минут и сам закрыл игру.

Секрет заключается в том что нужно каждый раз нужно поменять графику из 1366x768 на 1920x1200. Как я и по моему опыту это работает. Знайте я так поиграл всего лиш 2 раза.

Как я понял разрешение графики 13 дюймовых Маков 1920x1200 (самы низки), 2048х1280 (средни) и 2560х1600 (самый высоки). Эту информацию я видел из игры Metro Exodus. Из за того что у Мака свое разрешение он не вылетает и спокойно играется. Это как я понял.
