What's with the different colored blueprints?
so I'm still early in the game and I'm seriously confused over the logic with blueprints. For normal weapons, the colors go from green (least rare and lousiest) to blue (better) -->purple (best)-->orange (greatest).

But for blueprints, this doesnt seem to be the case? Blue blueprints seem to provide mostly an elemental effect but the base damage increase sucks.
Meanwhile green weapon blueprints seem to drastically increase the weapons damage so much more. So how is the blue colored blueprint more improved over the green colored blueprint then?

Also if I were to upgrade a weapon with a green blueprint, can I also add an elemental effect to the weapon with the blue blueprint?

The best blue prints are purple and gold ( or yellow it may look like.) The gold/yellow one adds a huge amount of damage to your weapon. You can only use one blue print on a weapon.

there's 2 type of mods:
you need to separate them to stop being confused.

1-mods that increase weapon stats : damage/maniability/resistance.
2-mods that add elemental dmg or special effect.

The dmg added by the second category does not show in the weapon stat description. that's why you think it does nothing.

you can add both type of mods to a weapon : up to 3 mods that increase stats (depends on weapon) + 1 mod that add effect.

@AI bundle

what mods? or you're referring to blueprints?

@--Indy--

ok, now i'm confused again. So I can ONLY use ONE blueprint per weapon? Then what's the point in choosing the blue/purple blueprints to craft? The damage boost for those blueprints are always so low.

I also have green blueprints (i'm guesisng it's from a DLC) which gives a huge damage boost to the weapons I craft with. Isn't the green ones way better? Are there any vanilla blueprints that is also green, or just the DLC ones?

- Mods are completely seperate from blueprints. They can be looted, bought, taken as rewards and found on corpses. Again, their color indicates rarity and attributes. Here's a good listing.

- Correct - only one blueprint per weapon and it's permenent. They also can be taken as rewards, found in areas by exploring ( also some secret ones ) and from DLC's.

- All DLC blueprints are green ( but quite useful early in ).

The trick is deciding how to combine the two most effectively.
Blueprint color is just the rarity of the item, and in my opinion "effectiveness" of applying it to your weapon. Obviously you wouldn't want to embed an orange one on a blue weapon, and vice versa. A common trend with better tier blueprints is increased elemental affinity. Most orange blueprints could give medium effects on two elements, and purple ones usually one medium and one small. Damage is also increased as you go along the tiers but this isn't always the case. For example, Bolter Poison is an orange blueprint but adds an incredibly lower damage bonus compared to Angel Sword, another orange one. However, Bolter Poison is compatible to more weapon types compared to the latter. Tiers go from Green to Blue to Purple to Orange.

Not sure what you meant by green weapons adding more damage than blue. That's usually not the case. Which blueprints did you mean

@Denii

Green blueprints are those like Punk Queen, Buzz Killer Nightclub, Lacerator etc. I think you alrdy have those at the beginning of the game if you own the season pass or Ultimate Edition.

Are these the only green blueprints available? From the DLC? Or are there actually green blueprints in the base game itself? So far all i've ever come across are only blue/purple blueprints

@_StanleyTweedle_
what do you mean mods are different from blueprints?
I only know two kinds...upgrades and blueprints.

If you want to apply elemental effects to a weapon, you use blueprints. If you want to increase the actual stats, you have to use upgrades.
I don't know of any other way to improve weapons.
Am I on the right track?
Poppi !! Oct 27, 2017 @ 11:08pm
Yeah man, your on the right track.
Mods are upgrades - " Modifications ". Exact same thing, different word.
And as Denii stated so nicely above, blueprints simply add elemental attributes to the weapon ( fire, electricity, poison, freezing ) as well as some small impact and or cutting boosts.

okay, that helps clarify alot. I forgot to read your full post just now on how all DLC blueprints are green. That was what had me confused in the first place.
