Would love to reduce the zombie spawn rate
This game is great, but I would prefer a less aggressive spawn rate. There's a lot of detail in this world that I'd like to have a little more time to explore, and when I decimate a bunch of zombies in an area, I'd like to be able to explore without immediately having to kill a never ending wave of respawned zombies. IMO this would make the game a lot more interesting.

Does anyone know if this is possible, like say via a mod?

Thanks.

Sometimes it is MOST challenging for a solo player to survive what seems like waves of hordes. Screw the flashlight—just don't go out at night!

Oh, it's possible. But Dying Light has a unique spawning system literally invented by one of the team and I for one, would hate to mess with it ( mod it ). I'm more than capable, but there's no reason to risk breaking the game's balance.

I see your point, but it's just right as far as I'm concerned. If I ever stop feeling I have to look over my shoulder all the time and I'm just free roaming nice and safe, I'll be done with the game.

As soon as you get survivor +20 level, you get weapons to basically one shot most zombies, later on you get shotguns, guns so it makes the life easier with Goons and other strong zombies. At max level survivor you get faster cooldown rate on your grappling hook, which is going to make you extremely mobile.

Thanks guys.

Part of my point is that the game is starting to feel like whack a mole...getting a little tedious with constant combat. A little pause after clearing out an area would be refreshing.

I really haven't played it that many hours, but enough to get the flavor of it—and no, modding doesn't seem like a great idea to me, either. This isn't a carbon copy of any zombie game out there; it's different. I know—I'm an old zombiephile.

I could NEVER get Stubbs: Zombie without a Cause to work right more than ten minutes, but LOTD, DOTZ, L4D, L4D2, Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide, Borderlands DLC "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned," Nazie Zombie Army Trilogy—anyhow, the first time I was on a rooftop in this game, and they started climbing up after me, I was shocked.

"Oh, man," I said, "you gotta know what you're DOIN' in this game!"

P.S.: That point-and-click crap like Escape from Dead Island and The Walking Dead is for babies.

I felt like that earlier today when I was playing a friend co-op. It seemed like the swarming never stopped!

Use your camouflage. Especially after maxing out your survival skill, it becomes much effective if you want to take a break for a minute. Ofc it changes your vision colors a bit but you know... also cancel the animation right after crane smirks his left cheek so you get better and clear vision. It prevents a blood mark appear in the middle of the screen.

I totaly agree with you on this. The game is absolutely perfect as far as spawns are concerned, and to mess with it could unbalance the whole gaming experience as a whole.

Sure the spawns can be a bit overwhelming but that is the nature of the world we are playing in.

There are moments after slaughtering a dozen or so it gets very quite, and gives you time to rest up while you are scavenging for loot on the bodies which can be very spookie considering all of that action could have alerted the zombies a block over.

I simply love this game.

Although I agree with you, it tends to be hard to impossible for me to do anything in the game since i play on nightmare mode, but I think that the spawn rate adds to the experience. If youre in an actual apocolypse, you wont know what to expect - slow zombies, fast zombies, special zombies, etc. so, i think in this way they prepare your reflexes.

I agree op... Zombies appearing out of thin air really ruins it for me(around the corner to be more precise)...Take my time to clear an area, so I can go through some buildings, only to continue wave after wave of them! Its silly, and reminds me of games we made fun of for doing the exact same thing! They already respawn each day/night... Why have them beamed in constantly?
peppergomez Aug 10, 2017 @ 8:12pm
I respect the differing POVs on this...for me, reducing the spawn rate by even just 25% would make this game much more enjoyable.

So, to bring this back around...can this be done, and if so? Anyone know of any mods that already exist to enable this?

Thanks.

I commend you for attempting to find a relevant thread by searching, but I'm guessing this 2 year old thread isn't quite what you were looking for, and your issue stems from the community event that's happening right now:

It's better to just run away and ignore zombies than to constantly fight them.

No, this is BS. I don't want to be a parkour runner, I want to kill the zombies as I stroll around at a leisurely pace. I go to an area, let's say power station, kill well over 100 zombies, probably closer to 200 zombies, I turn around, they're all back. That's BS! I can't stand it when games don't let me play the way I wish and FORCE me to play the way the developer wishes. No, I killed those zombies, it's physically impossible for there to be that many zombies in a closed off area. I'm freaking playing the game like Doom Slayer, a bus can't contain that many zombies underneath of it. If I killed 300 zombies, can I THEN get a more plausible spawn scenario?
