How to access story missions in The Following?
Ok so I've been playing a fair bit through it and it's fun if rather tough at times, but I've got to a point where there's no story whatsoever and I'm being moaned at to help people. This is a bit non-specific. How exactly do you open up further main story missions at a reasonable pace? Is it all about upping your trust level? And if so, what's the fastest way to do it. Game is teetering on being a grind fest of fetch quests and I'd like to just get to the story.

Any hints?

(Ps last thing I did was meet a faceless for the first time then went off and got some kid's package, then delivered mail.. What now?

Open up your quests menu, if there's no more main missions, you've finished the story, in this case you can go to your Advanced menu located in Main Menu > Play > The Following > Save. Select restart from The Way Out.

Do sidequests, it will unlock the rest of the story.

Yup...trust level. Help others, get gigs from the Faceless.

I really hope that's not a spoiler - I don't see how.

I haven't. Yeah, looks like I need to grind this out a bit. Thanks.

Best way to increase trust levels is to run around in your buggy and help strangers in random encounters (blue radar/circle on minimap). You get decent chunk of trust whenever you get an encounter where you need to kill that big charging dude or saving a dude on hunting tower attacked by zombies.
If you get traveling merchant, you can ignore it as it does not grant any trust points.
If you get 2 or 3 bandits, I suggest you kill them because looting their green army bag often gives you weapon mod (I even got few King mods from it).

Bonus of driving around looking for random encounter is that you will also level up your driving skill tree.

Good advice. One query - why is it my buggie degrades pretty much constantly and I get literally about 10 seconds in it before another part breaks?

10 seconds? that's weird. Try using higher tier parts, some parts may degrade a bit faster than others, for example one part may be somewhere at 5% while another at 20%, so make sure you repair all the parts before using the buggy again.

Yeah even doing that the parts degrade super fast. For an offroad buggy it can't seem to handle much off road action. I basically drive for a bit, it warns yellow and red immediately at the slightest bump in the road before I know it, and the parts all fall apart.

PS your advice paid off. I did some more sidequests and bingo my trust went up and hey presto the Faceless got in touch.

Thanks.
