I NEED HELP PLEASE

so i've been searching everywhere and can't find a straight forward answer. So i bought dying light by it's-self with no dlc's nothing, but i can still buy engraved semi auto shotgun and engraved semi auto smg (which i can't buy bullets for..?) and in Old Town everytime i quit my game and restart nothing resets e.g air drops, certain events.. so i'm honestly confused alot. Someone please give me a straight forword answer and help me!! :D

I can't understand fully, but I'll still try to answer with my best.

Engraved shotguns and these aren't DLC based as far as I know, so I don't see why you put it with DLC, or maybe I misread something.

As of airdrops, as far as I know there are no airdrops in Old Town, I mean the plane won't fly and drop these like it did in Slums, at certain point of story airdrops will stop being dropped. As of Old Town, you can still find them in certain areas where they respawn, I haven't paid much attention how long does it take for them to respawn, but it certainly doesn't happen by restarting game. Also many events won't be reset by simply restarting the game, you have to stay away and do something else then come back after a while.

As of ammo, IIRC you must be around... 12-14 survivor rank to have vendors start selling pistol/rifle/shotgun ammo. As of SMG ammo, it can only be bought from The Following, though you can still obtain SMG ammo by buying SMG weapons and dropping it.

i linked the engraved shotgun and smg to a dlc because i read a post on a website that had all the listings of weapons and it stated smg and semi auto shotgun's where dlc only, and by the event thing i meant that i've finished the game ages ago and if i save some of the survivors that are being attacked by goons i can only do it once and thats it and i haven't encounterd a random encounter since my 22nd hour. I'm saying all this because i've read on alot of forums and other discussions that events like strange encounters and saving suriviors from goons are meant to be reset but no-one seems to know for sure how long it takes, have i read lies? or am i f*ck*d? :(

No, I highly doubt they're DLC only, maybe these weapons came with Enhanced Edition, but everybody has this as it's a free patch and not a DLC, so don't worry about this.


As of ammo, I forgot to mention that vendors on Hard difficulty won't sell ammo, you must play on either Normal or Nightmare, so make sure you're not on Hard difficulty.

To change difficulty, go to your main menu > Play > Campaign > Select save > Advanced. Make sure you don't have any DLC mission tracked while changing difficulty as doing so will prevent difficulty options to show up in Advanced menu.


As of random events, they should reset, try doing something else and spending few in-game days in Slums instead of Old Town and then come back, also some of these random encounters are based on stroy percentage AFAIK, try to progress story a bit further and make sure you do side missions as well.

Edit: Nevermind, I think you need The Following DLC, I'm still puzzled how you can buy them though.

so thats good i guess but i've finished dying light already on normal and i've been playing normal since doing challanges for a while. I can get pistol/shotgun/rifle ammo already thats no problem just once i do something in the game i cant do it again like save survivors from goons or have any random encounters. All my friends say its a glitch so i just wonna see if someone can tell me yes or no its a glitch xD :( and if i should just buy The Following to try and fix it maybe?

You should definitely buy The Following, it's an awesome DLC and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. As of glitch, I'm not really sure, that's really weird and I've never heard of such glitch. I know that there's one glitch which makes zombies disappear from the entire map but as of your case I don't know.

Im probably going to buy the following then uninstall the game and redownload everything and if it still doesn't work properly then, i'll give deep silver a right rumble. Thanks for helping though dude im gonna like, end this discussion.. thing, thanks a heap for the help :D
