There is no cure. When taken directly, as the "mother" did, your body is turned into that of a volatile, but your mind is only feral at night. As long as the person is in the daylight or UV light, they are fully aware and in control.

The ending where you fight the mother is considered the "bad" end, and is also likely the canon ending that Techland will use if they make a sequel. Crane takes the "cure" when the mother forces him to, saying that she'll prove to him that what she's saying is true. She effectively forces him to share her curse. Throughout the time he's fighting the mother and then leaving the tunnels, he turns into a volatile, and it's assumed that he escaped Harran into a nearby city, and will effectively be patient 0 for that area.

It's actually a reall sad and depressing ending if you think about. They not only managed to create an ending where "everybody dies", as some stories do, but they also made an ending where it's implied that the hero of the story goes on to infect an entirely new population with the very virus he intended to stop... AND he's forced to live with his actions after the fact, as every time the sun comes up, his mind will return and he's stuck trying to deal with the grief of what he did during the night.

It's real. He's not the night hunter. He's a hybrid volatile like the mother.

The vials came from the military base under the dam. It's heavily implied that the infection began as a military experiment. The mother's husband was an officer at the dam and had the vials on him when he was killed, as well as a piece of the nuclear codes. He gave them to his wife when he died, and she mistook the vials for a cure for the infection. She was pressured by her followers into taking it, but then killed them all after she turned into a volatile.

It's never explained where exactly the infection began, but the mother isn't patient zero. She was turned into a volatile some time after the outbreak, proven by the fact that she wasn't turned until after her dying husband gave her his cigarette case, and he was killed by the infected.

We won't know whether the nuke ending or the cure ending is canon until Techland chooses to reveal that information, which they're unlikely to do unless they make a sequel.

Either endings are plausible though. The most plausible being "bad end", because of Crane's desire to help the survivors in Harran. It's unlikely he would trust someone that he just met... especially someone who is clearly a volatile whether she can speak telepathically or not... and nuke everyone left in the city/countryside.

The sad irony of the story is the idea that in his desire to help everyone, he's likely the patient zero of an outbreak in an entirely different location.

Nope. His hands aren't split like the Night Hunter's, and the mother clearly isn't a Night Hunter either, based on her appearance.

That whole "Crane is the Night Hunter!" thing is just a fan theory based on no evidence other than the desire to draw a connection between the Night Hunter of Be the Zombie and the actual story.

As far as the story is concerned, Night Hunters don't exist.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HELL I FINALLY 'FULLY' UNDERSTAND, at the end crane try to contact lena but no one reply coz they ran out of antizi and all dead , and crane cilmb up to a surface is a non-infected city , and he will spread it out

Yup. Pretty much.
But the night hunter won't never exist , because as u can see the mother said at the light the sun she can control herself , but dark she can't , and they drink the same liqud , and when every time u start the game 'Be the zombie' u will spawn at a thing like 'cave' maybe he hide from there at daylight , and u don't join the online , when u are on a singleplayer mode in 'Be the zombie' , the map is totally different from slums or old town , (maybe is the surface he went to) ,and at night , crane spread virus and have some volatile are 'spawning' , and surivivor try to destroy it , can crane is protecting it because he can't control himself at the night . (My Theory)
