Will this game damage anything?
Ive tried playing this game before but stopped when all of the sudden it reached a point mid-game after playing for a while I should also note, that the game began crashing randomly, and could be temporarily fixed by unchecking "read only" on the game files. But eventually it got to the point that didnt even work being that it would check read-only as soon as i unchecked it and closed it out. Coincidentally, or maybe from the game, my graphics card began experiencing problems on other games, almost as if it was damaged. Like I said, was this a coincidence or a VERY bad game bug?

Note : Im no longer on the same machine (I raise this question since im on a new one, for fear of causing irreversable damage because of playing a game that I didnt have a good experience with)

No such thing, I can assure you that much. I'd say it was just a coincidence.

hm... theoretically this game can affect your mental state and you will smash your PC with bare hands. It all depends on level of your emotional instability and/or chemicals you use/drink. Play it safe :Owl:
in my case it damaged my wallet, because this game is terrible, it ran better when i had 980ti + i5 2500 than on my new system with 980ti + i7 6800K @3.8GHz, i've tried running it on medium settings with vsync on and off, even on ultra at 4K, the micro-stutter still there... and guess what? i cant get a refund of this crap because i've played a lot before when i had a potato cpu. So if i was u i wouldnt bother installing this broken game.

Well rather be safe than sorry, can you like actually confirm this isnt a thing? That a game cant damage computer components from bugs? I got a 1070 and ide rather not chance f*cking it up as you'd imagine lol.

You can't prove a negative.

If something doesn't happen, it just doesn't happen. Can you prove it's possible for game bugs to destroy hardware? No? Then it's safe to assume it can't happen.

This game is perfectly fine. It has bugs, but nothing is going to damage your hardware. It's perfectly safe to play. The only way it wouldn't be is if you play it on the highest settings with an uncapped framerate and turned off your GPU fans or something, causing it to overheat.

Even then, there are failsafes included in most firmware these days that will simply shut off your computer before damage happens like that.

Your old card dying was a coincidence. Nothing more.

graphics cards wont shut off the system, they will ramp up their fans... trust me i've tested it...

I've tested it too and guess what?
GPU unit over-heating (when you tell it to NOT start the fans) will lead to the computer being shutdown before irrevocable damage is done. =P
It can, and does happen. (For an example if the fan has died.)

I believe in & support this theory. :bigups:

i tried it with my old 550ti running furmark, i set the fans to minimum but when it reached 95ºC the fans went automatically to 100%, and if it does shutdown the system its only with new cards, my friend's 9800 GT has reached 120ºC once cuz the fans stopped working but it only decreased the clock speed.

I'm playing the game on GTX 750 Ti, i5-4460 and 8 GB Ram without issues. You either had crappy version of hardware or issues with compatibility.

And no, my PC doesn't overheat, again there's some issues on your end.

clearly there are no issues on my end, 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz, Ramgape V Extreme, Corsair AX1500i (1500W 80+ titanuim), to be honest, cant get much better than this, also im using an H55 to cool my cpu and it doesnt even reach 50ºC, my gpu stays around 51ºC because of the bios mod i did. If i had issues with well optimized games such as GTAV, then i would agree that its something on my end, but GTAV just runs like a dream. PS: yes, i have the latest and greatest version of my mobo's BIOS :) U remember myself when JC3 came out, i also had a 750ti, 8 gigs of ram, but an i5 2500, i remember running the game better than other people with super high-end computers, not sure whats the deal with that, but seems like newer games dont like high-end pcs.

I've "tested" it as well, through trial and error overclocking and testing silent operation.

If a GPU overheats, the first thing you'll likely notice is increased fan speeds, yes. But the scenario I suggested removed the possibility of this by stating "turning off your GPU fans".

Beyond that, the first thing you're likely to experience when a GPU is overheating is image corruption. After that, the card will stall and the system shuts down. If it doesn't shut down, it'll simply freeze or BSOD and restart.

None of these scenarios have anything to do with Dying Light. The game itself is fine. OP's experience is coincidental.

To put this into perspective, I used to have an R9 270X. Most games ran fine, but Stalker Clear Sky... specifically Clear Sky... caused my system to either freeze or BSOD. Eventually, issues started cropping up in other games, such as Diablo 3 where I experienced corruption, and infrequent freezing.

This was all due to my card being faulty. It had nothing to do with software, but if I didn't know what I was talking about I might suggest something along the lines of "Clear Sky broke my system".
