How do night hunter invasions work?

So I have played two now, after finishing the story and thinking I might be able to prove myself. One as survivor with 2 other randoms, and one as the hunter.

The one I played as the hunter, the human sat in a safe zone with no way for me to reach him, until I eventually won for "humans cowering in fear" - I don't believe I got any score, no achievements, weapons or anything, basically. What does this mode do, if you don't even get anything for winning? Are there really no rewards?

As a survivor, I started off alone and got instantly killed twice, before someone else joined to help me. For a lone wolf, this seems like a very fair match... nevermind, its supposed to be a team mode. When someone joined, we went to kill two volatiles in their hives, and also kill the night hunter twice, until it just said "Aborted"(in red so I lose?), all players left and I didn't get score OR weapons OR XP OR anything.

How do I get anything worthwile from this mode, I would prefer to play as survivor because I think I can get good weapons that way.

If the night hunter can just quit, and I get nothing, it's just a giant waste of time, because no one's gonna sit around and wait to lose against a well coordinated survivor team, after all, destroying all nests would take quite a while.

Yeah, BtZ is most profitable for survivors, for hunters it's some kind of extra fun and that's it.

To me personally, I have most fun playing as survivor, also whether I win or not I have some chance of getting gold weapons, but there a people who enjoy playing as hunter.

In your case you were just unlucky.

Seems like Night hunter ragequitted. If hunter for some reason disconnects before survivors have destroyed first nest, game ends as "Aborted", which is not same as defeat.
Next time take out that nest b4 kicking his ass so hard.

As Blade said, you can get gold weapons even you lose, so dont quit mid-match even your team is getting wrecked. Losing is part of the game too :).

the mode is kinda fun somestimes, though finding a match as hunteer can suck. have found matches before and survivors leave immedietly, like why have it to be invaded on if you leave lol
