Best approach to attacking armed guards?

Hi. I've been having difficulty dealing with armed thugs. I spent all my ammo using the German 9mm pistol. Do you know where I can get more ammo or guns? I understand that when I get to weapons level 9, they are available in shops around the city. I'm getting close to that point, but I would like to get a head start. I will probably reach level 9 in a couple of minutes. What can I do if I run out of ammunition and I have to face an enemy that is armed? That's the situation that I'm in right now. And I see it happening in the future.

Police vans for guns and ammo,
Molotovs or throwing weapons if you dont want to get close :3

The easier way is to use grapple and then use any take downs or simply call their attention to nearby edgy props like cars, walls or fences, anything that manage you to kick their heads. Easy peek.
Also I enjoy a lot is to stun them by simply dodging their attacks while I lead them to a wall or any prop that is in the way and then...pfft....they get stunned in the leg. They fall and I am able to smash / kick their heads.

The bow is a great weapon against armed guys. You can get silent headshots that don't attract virals, and then collect the arrow afterwards. You can craft arrows too.

i would say just guns or bows but if you want to be sure just use a gun because you will be countering thesse guards like twice in the game. Soo its just use a gun and i have not seen anyone that has a gun while free roaming not even in oldtown soo if you see guards with guns use guns. bows are okay but why would you want to use then im a gun fight

if you are outta ammo and you have the throwing weapons skill just grab like a gas pipe and throw it at the guard and ram him if not just melee him while stunned or kick him and melee him, if you ran outta ammo don't fear aswell if you take out a guard with my technic you can get ammo from then if they are armed, bows will suck if you don't have the sucky bow dun use that,bozak is good but you can only get it from a dlc and you have to complete a mission, the harran ranger bow its okay but if you have the dlc (you can craft it when you buy it no strings incoulded)

You can also use throwing knives,axes and shurikans etc

I should have said 'living humans', and it's not 'wrong' - using a bow on any human is a totally viable and quiet option that doesn't attract volatiles. You get 60 arrows, if you get a headshot they are instantly killed... so as they run at you, aim for the head and they die quickly. I've taken out a group of humans with just the bow as they run at you. It's a very quick and quiet interaction and you get all the ammo back afterwards.

Sure, the bow isn't great for distance - but it kills quickly if you have good accuracy. Otherwise just backup and use 3 arrows in their torso and they die.

I should have said 'living humans', and it's not 'wrong' - using a bow on any human is a totally viable and quiet option that doesn't attract volatiles. bro, only on normal it will insta kill hard and nightmare nope, and a group a humans wil attarct volatiles nope only if you used a gun,firecracker,nades etc anything that makes noise meele weapon's don't. And if you just saying this in normal hard and nightmare not even a instan't kill even for guns and bows are just crap in nightmare vs rais's mean takes about 10 to 5 shots for me legend 250 same with the gun 30-20 but you can quickly spam the bullets and hold down mouse button but the bow you have to hold and charge it whice you can only fire about 5 shots or less before you need to heal or die. Dud like i said its not a instant kill in hard and nightmare have you ever tried and finished the 2 modes? if not try now and use a bow for eversingle mission in co op 2 people with bows is going to take forever you. You are right that it will instant kill but it wont only for people who maxes out the legend skill for bow. And if the Person runs at you just use your weapon. Bows and crossbows are 100% useless in nightmare

Let me say it again attract volatiles when? in night, yes but why would u use a bow in the first place just useing your melee weapon is already good enough, unless you are useing the electric mod but you can just use fire2 and poison2 which is good enough to kill anyone in the night

You can't craft arrows in the first place unless you finished the bozak horde which is like you need a friend to help you go ask blademaster he is quite pro and will help you finish it in abuot 20+ mins

Soo to say bows suck in many ways unless you have 3 dlc's bozak horde,following or harran ranger to craft arrows. Bows are slow, low dmg in nightmare and hard and limited ammo unless you have those dlcs i mention above

You are also makeing your points from normal, and i can see that you have not played nightmare and hard soo you don't really not much about it soo go now and play those modes and go with bows and try and see how much shots does it take to kill rais's men that are armed

Nope, hadn't played the hard modes. The OP didn't say he was playing on hard or nightmare, so it's a safe assumption that he's playing on normal. Perhaps not though. You seem to really need some sort of gratification for your post, so let's just go ahead and say that you're right. My method seems to work well for 'normal' mode, clearly I should have specified.

nope i had a friend and i asked him if he can and he said nope, only if you have the harran ranger dlc you can craft then aka ranger arrows
