Hammerwatch crashes on start up
I haven't been able to play this game yet because it keeps crashing whilst loading up. Is anyone else getting the same, or similar, problems.

Nothing I've done works. I don't have UAC on, there's hardly anything else running in the background, and I've tried running it as admin.

Not that I think it matters, but my specs are: Windows 7, Core i5,GeForce GT 520M.

I hope it's a problem with the code, and an easy one to fox because I really want to play this game!

I also have this issue. I have downloaded the last beta release, 1.06, but the game crashes as soon as the first note of the drum is played.

I am trying to play this on an older laptop, but I don't think it should be a problem, as the graphics of the game are quite, well, discrete.
Specs: Dual Core T2500 2.0GHZ, 2.5GB DDR2 RAM and an integrated graphics unit: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. I'm aware it's an oldie, but I've played several games on this thing, and not yet encountered any flaws other than obvious framerate issues.

try to disable fullscreen, worked for a buddy of mine

edit
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hammerwatch\config.xml
change the fullscreen tag to false
<Fullscreen>false</Fullscreen>
save it back, restart steam give it a go

Thanks for responding but my Hammerwatch folder doesn't have a config.xml file.

maybe your game folder is located somewhere different so try
right cilck hammerwatch in the library, go to properties
click local files tab and click browse local files button config.xml should be located there

I actually managed to resolve my problem using this Troubleshooting FAQ[hammerwatch.com] on the hammerwatch forums.

Apparenty I was missing a DLL file so I downloaded that and placed it in my Hammerwatch folder. After placing it in that folder and running the game once that config.xml file finally showed up. Turns out you need to have run the game before it is created.

i have tried reinstalling and debugging my computer, when i open hammerwatch the background is jumbled up and when i enter the menu all the jumbled up background turns into white letters almost cryptic looking. and when i open up something like options the previous menu buttons overlap them. also i cant play games, when i do in the top left it says game loaded but im still stuck on the home screen. id love it if someone could tell me what the freak is going on have i got a super rare bug? or have i been sold a bugged file? not sure if this is similar to your problem

According to their FAQ:

The screen has Blocky Graphics image
1. Update your video driver by going to the manufacturer's website
2. Update to the latest .net framework 4.0 4.5
3. Update Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package x84 x64
4. Run windows updater
5. Try turning on hardware acceleration in your graphic card's settings

Have you tried this?

My game crashes on start up?
1. Update your video driver by going to the manufacturer's website
2. Update to the latest .net framework 4.0 4.5
3. Update Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package
4. Try putting this DLL in the game's folder

This again is taken from the FAQ section of their forums.
