I can't escape with my entire family

Not sure why, I have 5 passports and enough money to pay for all, the text even says I can escape with everyone but when I do my mother in law gets left behind. Anyone know why?

if you adopted your niece, you need 6, counting one for yourself

If one of the family has died, it is my experience that one of the survivors will always stay behind, even if you have enough passports for all. This prevents ambiguity with the achievement and special ending being triggered by "escaping with all family members" being interpreted to mean all SURVIVING family members.

I let my mother-in-law die early in the game but was able to escape with everyone else including my niece

The mother in law always stays behind if you don't adopt the niece.

There's a bug in 1.0.37 with this Obristan ending. It's been fixed in the preview build (http://papersplea.se/update) which will be the default build at some point.
