How tidy do you keep your desk?
Is it worth it to take the time out of the 12 hour shift to keep the desk organized, or just spread the documents wherever it's closest? Is there any "optimal" setup?

The clock doesn't start until you first call the first entrant, so get your desk organised before you start. Keep the rulebook open on the desk near the top-left corner and place the newspaper on the right of the screen, so that the photos of the wanted criminals are just visible. Place both keys to the gun cabinet near the top-right corner of the desk (where the lock appears during a terrorist attack).

Bring each entrant's papers onto your desk, with the passport on the right (under the stamps) and the documents on the left. When you are finished with a document, move it onto the counter in front of the entrant for easy return. Any fliers/ciphers/junk can be placed on the far left of the screen, out the way.

I agree that the clock doesn't start until you say, "NEXT!" for the first time in the day.

It's during this time I take a moment to tidy my desk, look over the rules, and contemplate my life and decisions (within the game).
