If you can afford it, a larger appartement is the way Arstotzka thanks its working class.
Gameplaywise there is no advantage beside the Worker's best achievement.

Appartement classes and expenses:

class-8: rent: 25$ heat: 10$
class-7: rent: 30$ heat: 10$
class-6: rent: 40$ heat: 5$
class-5: rent: 50$ heat: 0$

You get arrested, you shouldn't take the EZIC gift.

I got into class 7 apartment with $105 left, without taking the EZIC gift

I got through the game perfectly fine without moving into Class 7. It's more for bragging rights because of the achievement imo.

It's not impossible, one of my friends managed to get to class 5 without taking the EZIC gift.... however you have to get atleast 12 people through each day with no citations

I moved on day 22 to Class 5 with 250 C remaining and without the EZIC gift. It's really just a matter of working fast to get as much salary as possible.
