As for the rest, you reported me for believing that you are involved in the games industry? Ok, I guess?
And how on Earth did you know I went to law school???
You can absolutely DMCA content that straight up copies others.
Seems like you missed a few classes
Is this a 1 to 1 copy of papers please?
Is it basically papers please but called differently, with the same art, same or 50% similar dialogue, same engine and code?
If it is not then they will laugh in your face when you show them this. Have you ever heard about -likes or clones? Like doomclones or souls-likes.
Nobody is getting cancelled there. What makes you think you have the slightest chance to cancel another game? If anything the game and studios will cancel you for trying to ruin its reputation
If what you are saying had any merit we wouldn't have any games similar to doom or any shooters at all. We wouldn't have cars except just 1 brand, we would have only 1 brand of toilet paper and so on so forth.
However, I do want to thank you for reporting me. You see, there is no guarantee that the creator of Papers, Please would have seen what I wrote here about how to file a DMCA claim and so on. But when a comment on their game's forum is reported, a creator is notified of this so they can check it out. You made sure that the creator would get a personal notice of what I wrote.
I bet you didn't know that, huh? ;)
You seem to be confusing copyrights with patents. It's a common mistake among those who don't understand intellectual property law.
Wrong again. I guess you are not aware of how Steam forums work.
First a team is free to put moderators on their boards. One hired or volunteering for the team. Majority of devs do not moderate forums themselves and many of them if not another majority do not have moderator staff working for them.
So it falls to Steam Support or Steam Volunteer moderators to deal with reports. So I am afraid there is little chance devs of papers please will see this and I doubt they are petty enough to care. They will probably be glad someone made a game inspired by them.
(Have you ever heard of parodies btw)
Anyways, keep your unfounded accusations to yourself, do not slander my good name. I could sue you for that, you'd know that if you were a lawyer but honestly like the guy said
It would be different if it was trying to steal its sole identity which is its name and was a direct copy. Papers, Please is more of a specific aesthetic/niche even from a creative standpoint. Whilst that game is fundamentally its own game. It might be a "copycat" but that doesn't mean it's stealing. It uses its own assets and everything.
Yes, it feels and looks like P,P...so what?? There are hundreds of COC, Minecraft, NFS "copy-cats" and nobody bats an eye.
The fact that you have no idea what "inspirations" or "look-a-likes" are...your problem.
BTW THIS is a mobile game, so shut it. IT WAS FIRSTLY released on android/iOS platforms as an alternative to Papers, Please...cuz we ain't got none ffs.
This game has your typical "Cold War" and then "Varune Virus" (Quarantine stuff).
Decoration, character design...Casual mode, do you STILL THINK this is a straight copy? NO, NONE of these are in P, P, NONE. THE ONLY thing that's SEMI-SAME is the gameplay, endless mode and salary/rent.
Maybe learn how to criticize, THEN speak.
Funny thing is, there is a 3D version of P, P. Did anyone ever talk about that? Probably not, but that's ok, let's hate on this other inspired game instead because it has more features than P, P
Or I can say the same if I take a book, change the font(the "skin" of how letters look) and cover, and publish it as "separate story".
