Papers, Please

In Linux Mint 19.3, game installs, but doesn't run.
Is this normal or is this game supposed to work in Linux? I've got 65 steam games when I had windows, but only 30 of those games have the green install button. I successfully installed Papers, Please, but when I hit play, the game doesn't run at all.

Just wondering if this is normal, or if it should be working and what I can do to get it to work. Thank you.

Hello,

You should be able to identify the issue by calling the game binary directly. On my setup with /srv/SteamLibrary as game directory, it's is:
$ /srv/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/PapersPlease/launch.sh
./PapersPlease: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by ./PapersPlease)

In my case with ubuntu 18.04, the libc library is too old for the latest version of the game. It could be something similar on your side.

Hi. Thanks for the answer, but I've since switched back to Windows 7. There were a lot of problems I was having with Mint 19.3 and am going to research more into Ubuntu before I go any further.

For reference, I managed to make the game work with my "old" linux setup by switching to the legacy 32 bit version (1.1.65) which was built against older libraries.

Awesome. Thank you for that information :)

Thanks for this information; I just tried installing on a Linux system running Debian 9 and had this same problem down to the "GLIBC_2.29 not found" error message, and switching to the legacy 32 bit version also allowed me to launch the game.
