Can't Pay Rent!
No matter what I do I can never seem to scrape by with enough money to pay rent. I get thrown in jail a couple days in for being in debt, meanwhile I can't even afford to pay for anything else like food, heat, or medicine so my whole family is getting ♥♥♥♥ on as well.

You could try turning the heat off every other day.

The thing is even if I spend little to no money on heat or food I get almost no money after rent costs, and it just snowballs until I'm in debt.

I've been alternating heat and food and it seems to be going alright.

I don't even alternate the heat and food and don't play on easy mode, I am doing fine but when days are cut short its often rough but that's why I stayed in class 7 and haven't moved to class 6 yet.

The cost of rent goes up but the cost of heat goes down if I remember correctly. Unless youre doing the achievement you shouldn't upgrade.

Your family gets nicer accomodations, but since you never actually see the inside of your home it might as well not exist. Besides going for the achievement to get a class 5 apartment there is absolutely no game benefits. Rent goes up and heat goes down a little, until it hits zero, but no matter what you're going to pay more for each upgrade per day, with a class 5 being 50 credits per day.

It's mainly a matter of practice and paying attention. I've watched other people play this and finally got it myself on a steam sale. First time playing through I did okay. Got quite a few citations along the way. Started over from the beginning after finishing the final day, this time making it a no citation run. It wasn't nearly as hard as I expected it to be.

I think it's essential to keep a list of all the issuing cities for each country on a separate piece of paper, since that will save you tons of time from cross-checking the map.

Try and take each piece of paperwork one at a time where you can. If you throw up passports, entry permits, work passes, and your rulebook all on the table at the same time it's likely to throw you off because of information overload. If you've gone through a document and found no contradictions then put it back on the desk.

Another crucial piece of knowledge is that there will always only be ONE problem with their paperwork. If you cleared up a discrepancy then that person is good.

Keep in mind I said 1 problem with PAPERWORK. The verbal aspect can also be off, when they tell you either the wrong purpose response, or the wrong length of time they're staying. They'll always correct themselves when you ask them.

Another time saving maneuver is that, until the "reason for denial" stamp comes into play on day 18, you don't have to interrogate anyone about discrepancies. As long as there is a legitimate problem with their paperwork you can just deny them outright without a word. You don't have to give ANYONE the benefit of the doubt to clear the discrepancy.

If their picture looks different you don't have to fingerprint them to confirm. Or if their weight is different you don't have to go through the lengthy scanner search. Or even if they're a criminal and/or have forged documents.

When that stamp does come into play it just makes an extra step. You have to interrogate people to bring up the stamp, but the process is still the same. If you don't want to go through the detaining/scanning/fingerprinting process just deny them, put the RFD stamp on it, and move on.

There's a day where it tells you that "All Kolechians must be searched." No, they don't! You can just deny every Kolechian with no citations.

Like other people said you can throw on easy mode, which gives you 20 credits at the end of every day but doesn't affect the game otherwise. If you're feeling a little cold hearted you could also just kill off a few members of your family to lower food costs, by letting them get sick and hungry, and then not giving them medicine. However, if you kill off all your family members this way it leads to a game over and ending 2, I think.

Whew. Hope that helps.

GLORY TO ARSTOTSKA!

How can you say if they are girls ?
I denied entry to some because the passport says F but obviously the character is a M.
