How to play Heretic with a port (with options, better render ect.....)

How to play Heretic and Hexen:

1. Just get 'em from Steam, they are very cheap!

2. Check for two files called Heretic.wad / Hexen.wad, they are around 13,5mb (Heretic, usually with SOTSR) & 19mb (Hexen, dont' forget DOTDC expansion too)

3. Install the limit removing port that You want, such as ZDoom, GZDoom, Doomsday, Eternity & Zandronum (i suggest zandronum for the mp mods and zdoom/gzdoom for solo)

4. For Zandronum (http://zandronum.com/) put .wad files (the so called IWAD files) from both fps in the same folder and get ready!

5. How to run, example: You can load Heretic when you start Zandronum just double-clicking over the zandronum.exe

If you want use a new expansion (the ones made by the fans), the .wad file will become automatically a zandronum file, open it and load an heretic expansion with the heretic.wad (you need heretic to load some heretic "fan wads", same with hexen), you can do the same with all mods for both H&H.

Also, for the mods like "high graphic textures" or something, you must copy the zandronum file (program), put it as shorcut on your deskop, right click on the shortcut, then > property >shortcut>target (not sure for the english version of windows):
Example => "Target: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zandronum\zandronum.exe" -file hocx.wad heretic_high_resolution_pack.pk3 "
You must add "-file", then the wad "hocx.wad" and then the texture pack "heretic_high_resolutionpack.pk3", then you can also add music packs like "musicpack.wad", but always after the texture pack.. just to be sure.
When you have installed Zandronum you can play online with Doomseeker (be sure to install the latest STABLE version).
While in Doomseeker, click on "Options" >Configure, then, Engines>Zandronum => Path to executable: [it must be where you zandronum file is located] (It's to load the game basically); it's like "C:/Zandronum/zandronum.exe.
In the same window, go on File Paths => in "IWAD and PWAD paths": +add the folder where your files are! - Example: c:\Zandronum
When you will click on a server, if you have the IWAD (heretic/hexen), you will be able to play on the servers, if you need some files (because people add some stuff or new expansions) Doomseeker will download it for you! :)

You need to do a shortcut of gzdoom,, in the property, then "cible", and put add +file highresolution.pk3, something, by exemple:
"D:\DOOM\Brutal Heretic & Hexen RPG\gzdoom.exe" -file brutalhereticRPG_V1.pk3 apostate.Wad
It's how i have made a shortcut for brutalheretic and apostate wad, also, when you open the shortcut, open it with the heretic.wad, it's a bit complicate yeah.
If not check the gzdoom forum but i can help here in case.

UP because some people reviewed the game and couldn't find a way to setup the keys and because dosbox is a bad port for them..... in case if it can help.
