About 100 times better than Diablo 2, but that isn't a very high bar. Gameplay becomes very same-y very fast, but if you enjoy min-maxing and optimizing a build, you will like this game a lot. That being said, the progression system is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in service of giving the player as many options as humanly possible, so you will need to use external tools to even have a shot at playing the game well. No semblance of a story or engaging narrative, but good for a few hours every once in a while if you want to mindlessly explode some trash mobs and grind currency & rare loot.

Easily one of the most complex games I've ever played. While that might sound daunting, you can get in quickly, start experimenting, and have fun. And as you delve deeper, you'll find layer upon layer of ways to enjoy the game. Not a game you quickly pick up and put down... maybe not for the casual player. But if you tinker a while, then follow some build guides, you could get hooked too.

Great game, very much like DIABLO just different structure. I am at ACT 4 and already spent 22 hours in game. It has 10 ACTS, so pretty long game, not sure if I will finish till the end, I wish it could be a bit shorter. But I am really enjoying it being a NECROMANCER Witch character. I give 9/10.

PoE is the true successor to Diablo 2. ive played this game for more than 10 years, with 3800 hours from steam, many hundreds of hours on ps4, and thousands of hours before it came to steam. This is the most player friendly company that has ever existed. They release new content every 3 months in the form of new leagues. Each league has a theme completely seperate storyline from the main game. End game mechanics change to fit the current league mechanic. Aside from the main league mechanics, mapping, labyrinth or delving are fully immersive experiences that can consume all your time if you like, or you dont have to engage with anything but the league mechanic and have a full experience. The build diversity is larger than any game out, the crafting system is more diverse than any game out, the skill system is more robust than any game out. Every league they release new skill gems, update old skill gems or remove useless skills. The constantly add new gear, remove gear and balance numbers for gameplay, this is done weekly not just every 3 months. This is the only ARPG that releases full expansions every 3 months and never asks for a dime. Sure they have supporter packs you can purchase that give you stuff, but its not intrusive at all. you never see it unless you go to the shop. The shop only offers cosmetics and quality of life items like extra character slots and stash tabs, but it also offers special stash tabs for items like currency, maps, essence and other main items. You can easily play this game without spending a dime, but i do recommend the special stash tabs for currency, cards, esssence and the others.. it just makes staying organized much much easier.

As the game evolved over the years, the gameplay has become smoother, graphics have become superior to many games on the market, but it holds the dark gritty theme that d3 lacks. This game also has the replayability that d3 and 4 want. Dont listen to anyone with less than 300 hours playing this game that says it sucks, they just found it too much for their casual gaming desire. this game is a game that can be planned each league, you can theory craft the builds, theory craft the crafting and streamline anything you desire in this game. D3 is cookie cutter builds and the same gameplay, offering very little in the form of endgame... but PoE offers more than you can do in a league.

There are hardcore, softcore leagues, these have options of active trading with other players. you will see players in towns and if they come to your hideouts, but not in maps unless they are partied with you. So yes this has some mmo features, but the main game is not mmo.

if you never want to engage people and just play by yourself, play the solo self found leagues. these leagues do not allow trading at all, and your currencies are used to craft or augment all your gear. it is an extra challenge.

There is no reason to not play this game as your main game if you like ARPG hack n slash games. This is by far the best game on the market for the player. many other games give some colorful jrpg stuff with very little if any new content for lots of money or mobile phone levels of microtransactions. But PoE offers massive expansions every 3 months, new mechanics and skills, new gear and enchantments... all while never asking for a dime. you will not be sorry for spending your time here.

A good RPG game, you can easily spend thousands of hours here and there will still be something to do in the game, the game is created by an ambitious studio that tries to make updates for its players all the time.

Personally, I'm not a fan of RPG games, so it wasn't that much fun for me, but there's sure to be someone out there who enjoys studying the game and getting better at it.
