A tip for linking your steam account to Path of Exile

If you, like me , want to link your steam account to your Path of Exile account, you can, simply by entering your email address and password you used for your Path of Exile account.

One thing to bear in mind though, is when you get the email and click the request to link your account, DO NOT CLICK 'Remember me' on the Path of Exile website, otherwise your account will never link. I stumble into this about 5 times, not realising. Now i know, i thought i'd share. I often like mt username or account name remembered on sites, so though tthis would be useful. Turns out it wasn't ;)

Sort of. You'll have to kill the bosses again and to a full run-through for those achievements, and you'll have to read all the non-essential text for the lore-based ones, but otherwise, most of them will trigger when they happen on your old account. e.g. I logged in and immediately got the Scion unlock, unique equip, and leveling achievements.

As my account is already linked and i didn't note the exact steps, i can't offer further help apart from the original notes and a little bit below.

If i recall correctly, when you run POE from inside Steam there will be an option in game to link your account before you login (to the game itself). That will send you an email with a link to confirm who you are and your steam info, thereby linking the POE account with Steam.

(I was really only outlining about the 'don't click the 'remember me', when you're going through the link process.)

Idk if its the same thing. But I'm having SUCH a hard time logging into PoE.com with my steam account it just keeps telling me I have the wrong password/username. But I can log into Steam just fine from the client? i dont understand it... I just wanna join the forums lol

you have 2 choices to login on the POE website. on the left is the path of exile account login and on the right, is the steam login. (green button) that says 'sign in through steam'. If you haven't linked your account, you won't be able to use the green button for the steam login. If you have, i'd suggest contacting support.

I havnt had an account in the 1st place. I seen PoE on steam an just played it a few days ago. Do I have 2 make an account on the webpage then link it with my steam account?

not that im aware of (and im not affiliated with POE support or their company, so dont' 100% know). I would've thought if you have an account through steam and have been playing, you would click on the green button to sign in through steam and it should give you your account details. Personally, i had an account prior to POE appearing on Steam. You might want to try giving support a shout. (POE support AND steam support, to see if either party can help).

I mean its not that big of a deal. & if support is anything like in more Free2Play games I'm not gonna work through all that just so I can post on the offical forums, the Steam community here has been pretty awesome. An long as PoE is tracking all my ingame stuff I dont have a problem.

But yes, even when pressing the green button steam still says I have the wrong password/username. Cud be a problem with steam but like I said I log into my client just find.

Wait so you don't actually have to sign up outside of steam to make a Path of Exile account like you do with pretty much all free to play games which I hate. And aside from that do you have link your account to play multiplayer like with Torchlight II ?

I just download and play and that is it ?

No, you don't. I didn't make a PoE account on their website yet; it worked just fine with just the Steam account. Don't remember for sure, maybe I had to click on some "create account" button first, but I definitely didn't have to go to their website. It all worked in the client itself.

I'll be making more accounts, probably -- depends on whether I run out of stash space before I run out of 'want to play'. Those will probably be non-Steam, but they will be additional muling accounts.

I had it on "Remember Me" and had no problem linking my account...hell I didn't even know I had an account! Apparently I have been a beta tester since the beta started long long ago (I have messages from 1+ years ago from people begging for beta invites lol) and I forgot about this game.

i played poe for some time on my 2. steam acc ,and is it posible to link this account to my main account(this one)? i already tryed to but it just tells me there is no existing acc (typed in my steam email and password)
