Yeah this blew me away when I first started playing. This is the type of thing free to play games like to screw you on to force you to buy more slots.

Good Guy GGG gives you 25 slots for free, and slots beyond that are only $3

And yo can create more free accounts in case you need room for 25 more characters :D

It's a game about exploring all the options in the skill tree.

I also was very surprised and didn't need any additional slots yet (playing since closed beta)

Edit: As people have said the most powerfull microtransactions are additional stash tabs and additional character slots which are both conveniences and nothing more, since you can create any number of accounts to store stuff. This game is actually truly free to play.

I keep making new characters for races and other builds and such...i keep running out of character slots...you could just create a new account but I chose to just buy them. I feel the developers really deserve every penny they earn for making such an amazing game!
