whats the ilvl requirement for number of sockets

also if u hit the maximum socket for a item will jeweler orbs stop working on it

• Item level 1: 1-2 sockets
• Item level 10: 3 sockets
• Item level 28: 4 sockets
• Item level 35: 5 sockets
• Item level 50: 6 sockets

Jeweller will reroll the socket. So let said your item contain 6 sockets and you accidentally use a jeweller orb on it. It might reroll to 1 socket. Take extreme care to not use fusing orb on 4L to 6L gears.

As for the Jeweller's Orb, it randomizes the number of sockets, it doesn't add sockets.

So if you have 6 sockets and use one, you might end up with just 1. Or whatever. (I'm guessing... I've never actually used a Jeweller's Orb on a 6-socket item...)

well my reason for the jeweler question was i had a bow with 1 socket used a jeweler and it went to 2 sockets now jeweler orbs wont work on it anymore which is because my bows ilvl is 13 and according to cavemans link items below ilvl 15 can roll a max of 2 sockets

That sounds really weird... even if you couldn't get more sockets, you should be able to use the orb and end up with just one socket again...

Try unequipping the piece of gear and removing any skill gems from it.

Yeah all gems must be remove before crafting.

it was already unequipped and had no gems in it

You need to check the level of the item ,not the requirement.Grab your bow with left click and open chat and type: "/itemlevel"(without quotation marks) That will show your real item level that sockets roll for.Itemlevel depends on the level of the killed monster dropping it.Hope that helps.

Not sure when it was added, but you can't use a jewelers orb on a item that has its max slots. Same with fusings on a 6 link.

Same with 4 socket gloves/helm/boots. You can't do it, unless they recently changed that.

You can just hold alt when hovering over an item and it will show the ilvl on the tooltip.
