How are you going to find a rare wand in the store, by using alch on one? Thats a waste of currency.
The wands are sold by a seperate vendor. Not the same one that sells armor and swords.
But don't buy or waste currency on a wand in the shop.
What league are you on I might have a few wands that you could use.
Generally speaking, if you are going a caster witch, and are avoiding any dex or str areas, might want to keep a watchfull eye on your naked stats, and keep those stats in mind when upgrading skill gems.
Sometimes youll swap out of a piece of gear and it will cause that gem you just leveled to be unusable due to changes in your stats.
Also, you should be picking up more stuff and selling it at the NPC. You are going to want to build up a stash of orbs, even if they are crappy ones. You could have baught a wand at an NPC, then transmutted it, making it blue, then rerolled the stats on it to something you like...for next to nothing in cost...and often those items are pretty damn good early game before you need resists and life/mana stacked.
Also, its good your screwing up your first build on a witch since no one likes them. WHen you reroll using a premade build off the forums the gameplay change will be nice and you will be impressed with how much more fun the game will be. Took me a couple self made character to figure it out, now i tweak premade builds to my liking.
I would focus on building your bank and getting familair with the game, then head to the official POE forums and pick out a noobfriendly build (noobfreindly means you wont be required to have expensive uniques or six linked items to make it work) and follow it exactly. It will really help you learn the game.
