Is there a way to hide the chat?

Press Enter in game, now look into the chat window, near the top of it. See those little circles/check marks? Click on them, it'll make you leave the chat and thus hide it.

go to Options, into UI settings there is an option to turn it off

There is no possibilty to turn off guild-chat thou.

I would welcome an option to move the chat window to a different position and/or resize it.
I don't want to hide it completely, but I find it mildly irritating that the chat window stays in the way all the time.

I actually like Global Chat, though I avoid some channels. (You can switch to specific channels by typing /global #, where # is the channel's number.)

But the point is not to remove the chat, but to allow hiding it, if at least for a while you want to rest from it :)

Well, you can just uncheck the channel (enter, then at the top click on the round buttons), and later re-join when you feel like it!

Well, the chat disable doesn't completely work I had it disabled from the very start (well, almost), and I rarely saw anything. However, every once in a while, someone managed to "break" through the block and advertise some item that he's selling. And no, it wasn't the advertising for the daily cash shop item deal or whatever crap they broadcast -- it DID look like a message from a player.

I'm guessing they are selling a cash item that allows them to reach players with chat disabled...

Press enter, uncheck trade and global...it is not hard, how can you not figure it out lol? i have mine shut off pretty much 24/7, the chats annoy the hell out of me, plus i will end up getting banned cause of some dummy, i got reported once, and muted twice cause of it lol...better off with it off cause i'm too tempted to reply and go off at some stupid person or fail troll.

yeah, you can just uncheck global and trade, makes playing a whole lot better
