End boss of Act II. Was he always so easy?

When I beat him on my Ranger way back before the expansions, I remember a long fight that involved a lot of dodging.

But I just fought him on my Scion, and I beat him by doing nothing but holding left mouse to wack him with my axe. Didn't even get hit once, as all his attacks landed far behind me.

i don't ever recall seing anything about it being nerfed, it was never that hard, just new...same with most things they add, necromancers, rhoas, those mages with lightning thorns, devourers and now drop bears....all of those caused multiple posts to be nerfed when they were added because people just didn't like learning and adapting.

Ya, I cant say Vaal was ever that hard, even going back to closed days. All of his moves are easily learned and easily spotted incoming. With good Lite Res, even the clips from his blasts wont do much, and as long as you dont stand under the giant fist (ball? O>o) slam, you're good.

Actually, on merci , the falling rocks can tickle a lil , pending on your life total.

Ranged Chars have a tendency to be a bit more squishy than melees, so comparing them in that regard is a bit rigged. Especially without comparing DPS values and how well you can sustain them (run around vs actually applying the damage). Then there seems to be a bit of luck, which attacks he uses, e.g. the ice one is quite harmless and a good time to attack him, yet when he dives down a floor, that ruins your speed, and it might occur frequently in some fights against him (haven't seen a logic other than pseudo-random to it). Or you need his minions to refill and they don't occur for a while.

I doubt OP has met Vaal at a higher difficulty. But nonetheless, his attacks are telegraphed, sometimes he can't even decide to do anything and idles. All of the possible hits are avoidable. The easiest act boss. Now waiting for GGG to buff him ;)

the first time you come up against him can be fairly tricky, especialy if you don't really have the gear(who dose the first play through) and it is the first time doing him.
