Steam Trading Cards and obtaining them for Path of Exile
I have some confusion regarding the way i could obtain Trading Cards for Path of Exile by buying stuff for my account in the game.
I expected to see some cards appearing into my Steam inventory for making a payment,
yet i only gained what i bought with the currency Grinding Gear Games has for their games
microtransaction shop.

What did i do wrong?

It certainly is not because i would have spent too little into the game.

Spend money in the in-game store, while logged in with Steam, which uses Steam Wallet funds. For every $10, you get a card after playing a while. You can check your badges to see how many you can get (will say X drops remaining).

I spent $20 a while ago, which gave me 2 cards, and another $50 lately which gave me another 5 cards.

Oh, so you mean i should have put funds into my Steam Wallet INSTEAD, not just purchase
PoE in-game store currency and then use them?
I guess that does make more sense, though i thought it would have counted to have logged in to
my PoE account with Steam on the PoE official website, but atleast now i know how to do it,
were i going to do it in the future.
Thank you for your reply :)

To clarify:
In f2p-games, steam will allow you to get trading cards for money spent from the steam wallet for ingame purchases. (That only works when you have the steam (community) overlay enabled.) The rate is 9$ per card. With the intermediary currency of coins PoE offers, you only need to buy those points to get cards, you don't need to trade them in for a cosmetic goodie or stash-tabs.

PoE also offers the ability to pay outside of steam (directly through GGGs website), those purchases will not and cannot count towards trading cards. (As trading cards are an incentive to give valve a cut by using them as payment provider. ;) )

That clears it up for me. Thanks to you both :)
