Do I have to identify strongboxes
To get their suffix bonus?

No, there is no bonus to not identifying them though, so always safer to identify and possibly reroll them.

Identifying a strongbox is just generally a good idea because you know what to expect when opening it. Sometimes you open a box and that can be the death of your character. That wouldn't be a good thing, especially if you're playing hardcore.

Especially if they're arcane ones, I always scour and alch those.
