POE1 or POE2?
When will PoE2 be free to play? Should I wait if it's coming soon, or should I download PoE1 since I'm really in the mood for a game like this right now?

They said poe2 will release in 6 months to a year but realistically it's going to take a lot longer, we'll get a better understanding of if they'll hit their target in the next big update, alot of the game is missing currently. Poe is more streamlined with loot to endgame and a better passive skill tree and gem system with alot of content but Poe 2's gameplay mechanics and animation is far superior. Just to add if you purchase the smallest Poe2 pack they give 300 points which can be spent on stash tabs it'll be shared between both games, if you decide you like poe and are going to buy points anyway go for the poe2 early access and have the best of both worlds.

The game has never been free and never will be. The game forces you to buy sections for chests that cost more than $ 100. That is, free games are always expensive, and paid games are always free

Poe1 is a billion times better anyway.

They said it will take about 6 to 12 months to make game. But imo will take longer.

Not up to 6 :P

- The entire game is free.
- You can buy cosmetic microtransactions that do not affect gameplay at all
- You can buy convinience upgrades, mostly stashtabs where you collect loot. Those stashtabs also can sort your findings.
- One premium stashtab is required to sell items to other players
- The ingame currency is easy to translate to real money (at least in my country)

Expecially the currency and mapstashtab make the game much more convinient but i know people that played through the entire game without spending a cent.

Right now the map stashtab is 150points, the currency is 75 points and premium is 40 points. 265 points is 26,50€ in my country.
(btw you get 300points when you buy the cheapest early access of poe2)

The shop has a lot of really expensive "micro" transactions but none of them is required.
Season passes etc do exist, but reward only skins.

There is a reason that path of exile is considered having a fair f2p system.

To the original post:
PoE has almost unlimited content if you start today.
PoE2 was fun for me for close to 300hours and now im waiting for more.

Starting today, i would play through the campaign in the "legacy of phrecia" event until lvl 80 in poe1 (and collect the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that come with that) and then go to poe2 on the next big patch, where the majority of players probably start all over again.

If you have very limited time, i would go for poe2 immediately.

Poe 2 feels a lot better to play but is objectively "worse" content wise because its so new and have problems to be fixed. If you dont mind playing a really old game for 12 years of content and a more complex game then go ahead!

How long is Early Access likely to run for?
As long as needed, we expect at least 6 months.

Wasn't hard to understand what I said, in 6 months to a year. Meaning in 6 months time from December to a year, June being the earliest. I didn't say 'within'

Jonathan stated 6 months to a year is their target. 'release in 6 months to a year' is what I said

Yes because let's ignore what was said in a live stream.
They also said on live stream that chaos dmg and poison should bypass ES.
And that it didt was a mistake/bug. Even though they said befor launch that it was ment to be like that.

People never change there minds right? It could not be that something was said, and later was revised and put into the FAQ?
