Minions bodyblock, which is also a very nice feature to have. They also are able to fight for you better in latency/disconnect situations (where you wouldn't throw more traps).
I did mine with a totem melee build, melee mainly as that side of the tree allowed for many hp-nodes on the tree, which are the most versatile defensive mechanic. Getting some endurance charges, resists, armour, movement speed and -skill, guard skill on auto-cast (or on walk) and not rolling maps beyond magic made for a pretty boring and slow, but safe playstyle.
I'd also recommend cold dot, class choice doesn't matter.
Both what tenzek and driver suggested are good choices. To add on to driver's suggestion if you wanted to do totems, two really good nodes from totem mastery are 5% damage from hits go to the totem and the one that makes totems taunt. Taunted enemies deal 10% less damage to targets that aren't the source of the taunt.
Whatever build you decide on run determination as soon as you can and get grace if you can slot in it. If you're playing trade try to get 100% suppression or at least 50% and up. Really how hard it is, depends on how fast you want to do it. You can hit 90 without ever stepping into a yellow tier map.
RF jugg or some kind of Righteous Fire build, They are immune to spell reflect / most of the map mods and the way you scale damage is by having more HP, Typically people make them with endurance charges which gets even more tanky and they have a ton of life regen. Pohx has a nice website for anything RF or his guides are on youtube. https://www.pohx.net/
tbh it sucked for defense
i never died so much before
Now that i am level 80+ its getting quite tanky but the early transition from Act10 into maps was really bad :(
dont know if ziz guide sucks for that but basically all my own builds that are far from optimal did a lot better from Act10 to clearing first maps.
and ziz says his guide is HC viable >-<
Now that i got some equipment and some levels its actually pretty tanky
Quins Shield Crush build from last league was super uber tanky....
he could basically Tank a critical hit from Uber Maven without dying.
he had no damage though
it was just because someone mentioned seismic trap
and i would advise not to follow zizs seismic trap guide for hc
Nah. There is no budget for HCSSF. The build is meant for using what you find. They do play 25 hours per day, though.
I usually dont die with my own builds before T3 maps
with following his guide i had ~ 20 deaths when i reached T3 ....
Not saying Seismic isnt super HC viable
i was just saying Ziz Guide was imo not HC viable in the transition phase from Act10 to maps
It's a build that people playing HCSSF were able to kill Maven with on day 3 of a gauntlet league with absurdly dangerous mods. Could the problem be elsewhere?
well if you dont want to understand what i wrote then there is nothing i can do.
i think ziz wrote the guide for softcore and then said its also hc viable.
which it is
but imo not the way he did it.....
if you strictly follow his guide you will imo have some problems on your first maps.
Its definitely hc viable now that i invested a little bit and reached some levels....
and its hc viable if you do it a bit different.
my post was only aimed at the guy who asked to warn him from that specific guide
at level 68 on no budget it was a lot worse than many other builds i did.
That's what i used for my first attempt ever last league and made it to lvl 87 on HCSSF i ended up dying to a one shot from a map boss that i tried to dodge but he caught me on the edge of the AoE, so if you try it on regular HC you probably will have a way easier time with access to trade.
