DirectX11 vs DirectX12
I didn't know this but DirectX12 works a lot better with modern hardware and DirectX11 works better with older hardware, something to do with the way they process data thats different and better suited for different cores and other things i dont understand, however I used to use the default 11 and it would get kind of hot sometimes so i had to do things like lock framerates, but after switching to 12 everything is so buttery smooth, Blighted Maps used to slow down bad with huge numbers of mobs, now my GPU and CPU arent bothered at all and run very cool.

QRD; Use DirectX 12 for newer PCs with newer hardware its a better experience. For Nvidia GPUs anyways....

i thought that was only relevant to AMD GPUs?

Why would it ? It's an API, it depends on both your CPU and GPU, and it's not agnostic either, technically speaking, Vulkan is superior to both if the implementation is proper, it's the one with the less overhead in theory for both CPU and GPU rendering.

i see, lots of people have been complaining about poor performance on their new hardware, i hope this helps them as it did me
