The best way to get a 5-socket Linked Armor is?
Ok, as a seasoned Diablo player (> 2 decades played) just got into POE for 2 months, what is your best suggestion on getting any Armor with 5 linked Sockets, besides keep trying gem of fusion and trading??

I was told to hold it till I start mapping since a recipe of linking 5 sockets will eventually there, but I guess there's another way?

Enlighten me my Diablo brain cells pls, lol

You can finish the acts fine on a 4 linked damage skill if your char is build half decent.

After the acts, easiest is just trade.

If you want to link yourself, eitehr crafting bench, or if you wanna do it yourself, get the item quality to 20% first

kalguur shippings have a good chance for getting random 5 to 6 link items, (check on the trade values for such oods) also corrupt maps/areas have a good chance to have random linked items but if you want a X item linked you need to do it urself, dont forget to 20% quality first,

Crafting bench 100%. It only costs 220 (total) orbs of fusing which you can buy through a vendor. 70 orbs of fusing to get 5 sockets then 150 orbs of fusing to link them together. (well, and you'll also need the recipes unlocked for both)

Or, find armour with 6 sockets, not too difficult before even mapping. That way you have 2 possible combinations to get 5 links, cheaper (EDIT: that is, when self crafting, one orb at a time). Still expensive AF imo before you get well into mapping. HOWEVER as indicated above, if you're not crushing everything with 4L you're missing something. Better supports for eg.

Hmm. In my ~900 hours of play, I never found a 6 link armor (usable for my character). It was much easier to farm the div cards for a Tabula Rasa in blood aqueduct.

socket. You've misread, happens.
Try to 4L a 5 socket item, get what I'm saying?

Yeah I get it. My post still stands.

6L is overrated anyway :P

Thanks!

I was actually told so to hold on till Mapping and find the 5 link recipe and bench it on, if that's what you mean

I just got a 6 socket, and none of them linked

But Maybe yours is a good try

My armor has six sockets!
strangecat Dec 24, 2024 @ 11:49am
six sockets and four are links and two are linked.

Maybe I'm very lucky but I've gotten a lot of 5 link armor drops in my time playing this. And there's no greater feeling in the world than making / finding your first 6 link.

Kill rare mobs.

Rare mobs can have hidden reward modifiers, and two of those modifiers are "force max sockets" (so if it drops an item that can have 6 sockets, it will) and "force max links" (so however many sockets a drop has, they will all be linked). I don't think any single mob can have both of those, but your chances for a 5- or 6-link go way up when you only need to hit half of the RNG jackpot that you would need to get the same item from most mobs.

Also notable is the reward modifier "all sockets white". If you get a natural 6-link from a mob with that modifier, you have something better than a tabula, since it has six linked white sockets AND can have all the usual magic or rare modifiers on top of that.

You can't see the reward modifier before killing the mob, so there is no point in chasing every rare mob - some power combinations can be brutal - but if you consistently kill the ones you can, eventually you will get one with the reward modifier you want.

Its simpler and usually much cheaper to buy what you need. Crafting is the last resort on most occasions.
